Karlsson on the top pair. I don’t think Minnesota needs anymore offensive defensemen. They have dumba now burns, it won’t bode well for them.

I get not wanting Burns, because we're at the point where Spurgeon is probably approaching becoming the better player between the two of them. But you are taking on only 500k more in cap hit and 2 years less in term while getting two of our top 5 prospects and a 1st rounder. Could be a lot worse.

I like Spurgeon a lot, but it doesn't make sense to murder the prospect pool so we can prop up the D some more. (would kill to see Spurgeon and Vlasic though)

I don't see why the Sharks would do this. Both Burns and Spurgeon have terrible contracts, and neither one of them is easily better than the other. I don't think it would be worth it for the Sharks to give up a 1st+ extra. Just my opinion.

Spurgeon is really good defensively, Burns is an offensive guy. You already have EK as an offensive guy, see where I’m getting at?

We aren't approaching. He is better than Burns (if we talk about overall game).

Ok fair enough but the point is they are close. Burns is still very good despite the fact people on here think he's a complete cap dump worth nothing. My point was just that their level of play is pretty solid for both of them, but Burns is trending down while Spurgeon probably still has quite a few good years left in him before he starts declining.

Completely agree we just can't afford to destroy our future to salvage a bit of the present. If you ask me, Spurgeon-Vlasic would be a pretty fantastic pairing though.

Or here's an idea: given how incredibly deep the 2021 draft is going to be in defensemen, we could not give up two of our most promising forward prospects and give drafting our own players a whirl for once?

But why would you add a 1st+ to the deal? I just don't see how this helps San Jose.

God, right? I've been making it a point to watch Michigan's games and even though there's only been two, man, Owen Power is good and I would give my left earlobe to get him on the Sharks.

I didn't realize until Friday that I had BTN on my TV, guess what I was doing, watching Owen Power look like a pro D at 17.

Right??? I'm paying for a streaming service for it, 70% because I wanted to watch Thomas Bordealu develop this season and 30% because I wanted to keep an eye on Owen Power. And like. TANK BOYS, TANK FOR FUTURE POWER.

What are ur thoughts on Power? Is he a Slavin, Jones, Werenski or Ekblad type? A good big 2 way guy?

Honestly, Klara will have a better take on that than I do - I don't really watch enough of other teams to really be able to make good comparisons. I will say that whenever he's on the ice he's one of the standout players and my take so far is that he's remarkably solidly defensive and I would ****ing love to see how he would play with Karlsson.

Well, I sincerely hope that Ottawa gets him, since they have a proven record of developing that kind pf player wink Me, I want a LD who can balance EK65 and his outrageous contract - er, I mean, his offense first style of defending - on the top pairing. :P

Pray he has something resembling at least two seasons of being able to skate with Merkley (since I think Simek is going to be bait for Seattle) and then buy him out. We've also got Pasichnuk coming into the Barracuda this season and some of us (me) have some hopes that he might develop into a solid NHL player.

Seattle has so many options at LD league wide, that will be the most available position to them. So idk if they pick Simek
