But is buchnevich really worth a first tho...I like idea of the trade but since I don’t really watch many Rangers games idk what Buchnevich is worth.

Yeah that was the assumption. I was gonna trade for Turcotte, but I figured LA holds him higher than Vilardi

I'm not too sure either, I tried to estimate his value as near Athanasiou's and the deal would be near the deadline with Colorado being one of the best teams. If a 2nd and a 3rd makes it more worth it then so be it

Yeah the Kings are in no rush, neither will be moved anytime soon unless something insane is coming back.

Valuewise, I don't mind the Buchnevich trade. Buch can be a serviceable top 6 forward and the Avs first is likely to be 24th-31st overall.

I think the Avs are good on giving up higher value assets for players as of right now. They believe they have a pretty deep forward squad and I think they already made that type of move with the Toews for 2 second rounders trade.

Sakic hasn't traded any 1st rounders and last time the Avs did, they got a starting goalie in Varlamov. So when they trade 1sts, they go big or go home. Also, that traded pick turned out to be Filip Forsberg, so maybe that also brought a bit of a regretful feeling to the Avs.

Yup I agree, Sakic doesn’t like to trade 1st plus just right now don’t see where he fits, with burakovsky landeskog and saad, the addition of Newhook soon, buch doesn’t have a spot in the top 6.

If they moved Bura out for him that makes it more plausible

Sakic didn’t trade for Varlomov, he didn’t become GM/EVP until 2013 Avs acquired Varlomov in 2011. But yeah Sakic has never traded a 1st

I didn't say Sakic did, I said THE AVS traded for VarLAmov.
