Pietrangelo, krug, and jg signed a 6 year extension and then played only 7 games before the shutdown. You think lou didnt know what was gonna happen? Really! He didnt win gm of the year for nothing.

I am not even sure what JG has to do with your point he signed the extension before the pandemic. As far as Krug and Pietrangelo they are far better players than Eberle. Top 10 at their position in the league. The very top players will still get their money. The middle and lower tier are the ones that will be going year to year for the next few years at significantly reduced AAV contracts

Detroit has no use for Leo Komarov we decline, And the NYI are in no position to offer sheet Patrik Laine he'd never even sign that offer sheet when he's seeking closer to $10 million per next summer.

Ottawa would definitely need more to take on Boychuk.

VGK is a hard pass. Theodore is a stud locked up to an amazing contract and your offer isn’t even remotely close to get him. Think Barzal value.

Detroit passes as they don’t have a spot for him and he has too much term for just MDC.

I don’t see why Buffalo would do that considering the wingers they already have.

Did Ladd get injured in the offseason because I keep seeing people put him on LTIR but he played in the playoffs? Poor play isn’t always an injury.

If he did his owner should fire him then. He front loaded this contract at a time when every team is hemorrhaging money and every long term deal signed after that point was back loaded, including Pietrangelo and Krug. He definitely should have been able to get JGP at a much lower cap number also if he knew it was going to be a flat cap for several years moving forward. That is just irresponsible spending

I wouldnt fire the gm of the year talk about irresponsible. As for front loading it doesnt look like the isles have money constraints

Every team has money constraints why do think the Isles are paying 2/3 of Pulocks contract in the second year of his deal

Also the Isles easily buyout Leddy and keep Toews if there are no money constraints.

First you would lose cap space that way. Second you could get a second for leddy (for sure at the begining of fa) so there would be no reason to buy him out.

They would save 4.25 against the cap this year by buying him out and 4.75 next year, which is less than what Toews cap hit is. If they could have traded him for a 2nd then they would have and kept Toews who is clearly the better player and is at a lower cap figure leaving more money for Barzal and to add help from others UFA's.
