Belleville This Season

Description
Assumptions:
1). Assume there is only one spot open for Norris and L.Brown, and that Logan Brown wins that spot out of camp. There will be opportunities for Norris towards the end of the year, but it won't hurt him to take the 2nd tour in Belleville like Batherson did.

2). Assume Ottawa isn't going to carry 8D, and rather than sending Zub down and risking him simply leaving back to Russia, the Sens opt to give Brannstrom another year, or at least another partial year. I would expect if Brannstrom plays at the level he did in Belleville last year, it wouldn't be long before they made a trade open a spot for him.

3). Batherson, Chlapik, Brown, Balcers all graduate to the NHL full time out of camp. Brown as 1/2/3C, Batherson as 2/3RW, Chlapik as 4C/13th F, Balcers as 3LW. Balcers could also be bumped to extra forward depending on whether Stuetzle plays or goes back to Europe.

Not much different than the parent club in Ottawa, talent wise, lol.

Ottawa Sens V Belleville Sens in a 7 game playoff would go all the way to Game 7.

Key year for Davidsson and Thomson. Davidsson has to prove he's still got NHL upside and this is probably the year where we find out if Thomson is closer to a potential top 4 D or a potential bust. I'd like to see Gustavsson take a major step too but I'll give him a couple more years before I think of writing him off. I'm interested to see what Abramov does, he's technically the 7LW but I could definitely see him playing his way into an NHL tryout. If Balcers and Formenton also do well he might turn into a decent trade chip.

I really hope we see some big progress from Lassi. I think the upside is there, but he's really got to take a step. I think he might be more worthwhile as a trade chip.

Also I think out of Abramov, Formenton and Balcers, Abramov has the highest offensive upside. The problem is I think he's also less suited to playing in the bottom six than either of them. I think he's either going to be a dynamite 2LW,or he'll be a trade piece.

Also I think Gustavsson's struggles are a result of being brought over at 19, which was way too soon. I think he's got a pretty long leash before it's a worry. He's absolutely killing it right now, and it's worth remembering that he's still younger than Hogberg was when he came over. He's still got another couple of years to go before he's in the danger zone.

OTT needs to get Lassi out of Liiga and over into Belleville ASAP. Guy is wasting away there and OTT needs a more active hand in his development

As time passes I'm more inclined to agree on using Thomson as a trade chip. Really wish that we coulda somehow snagged Parayko in the whole Petro fiasco in STL, he'd be the ideal long-term partner for Chabot and I woulda been willing to give up a lot to get him, Thomson naturally being included in the package as a potential replacement RHD. Maybe we can pull a Fiala/Granlund trade for Cernak using Thomson. I'm honestly not super sure what we need right now other than 2-3 years of development, the only real holes are maybe at 1C if Stutzle turns into a LW and we don't get Raty, or 1RW long term (aka post-Dadonov) if Batherson turns out to be a 2nd liner and we don't get Guenther. Goalie is hopefully set for a while (between Murray, Hogberg, Daccord, Gustavsson, Mandolese, and Sogaard we should have a pretty solid starter for the next decade plus right???) and our D and LW look kinda loaded (a top 4 defensive RHD might be the only hole if JBD doesn't fill that) so I'm honestly not really sure what we would trade for unless we can snag an impactful young NHLer for a couple of our mid-tier prospects/2nds.
