Description
It’s a weird time to be a Penguin fan, the season is upcoming as these next two years are crucial. The 20-21 and 21-22 seasons are deemed to be the last years of any playoff success. The core is trying to win one more championship. It can be done. The Penguins top 6 is as loaded as ever. Sid, Geno, Jake, Rusty, Kapanen, and Zucker; the bottom six however is not impressive. Jared McCann leads the way down there, Tanev is very consistent and Teddy Blueger is becoming a very reliable center. They have holes. The 3C is huge. They have no good wingers other than McCann and Tanev. This forward group reminds me of the 2014-15 Penguins.
Here’s the 2014-15 Penguins forward group
Kunitz-Crosby-Hornqvust
Perron-Malkin-Comeau
Spaling-Sutter-Downie
Winnie-LaPierre-Adams
2020-21
Guentzel-Crosby-Kapanen
Zucker-Malkin-Rust
McCann-Jankowski-Rodrigues
Tanev-Blueger-ZAR
ITS SO COMPARABLE
The defense is tough was well. The Penguins top 4 is very solid. But can Matheson be good? Can Ceci actually do something?
Dumo-Letang
Pettersson-Marino
Matheson-Ceci
2014-15
Martin-Letang
Maatta-Ehrhoff
Scuderi-Despres/Bortuzzo
Again Comparable
Jarry is Flower
DeSmith the is Greiss
The Penguins have a crucial year ahead of them. I think they will make the playoffs for sure. But Cup contenders? We will see. It’s a tough thing to see. The Penguins aren’t the team to beat anymore although I truly think they are but it’s obvious that they aren’t the top dog.
I’m gonna redo some trades that were made and This is what the Penguins should look like

They counted the every round as playoffs. The Penguins have made the playoffs every year since 2006-07. Do I think the cores done? No, People would be foolish to count out the Penguins. Are they gonna win the cup? No. Playoffs? Probably. The Caps and Pens have the same top six basically and they have the best top 6 in their divisions. The Rangers are third. I think you're right to say it would be foolish to count them out. I'm not familiar with their prospect pool but from looking at the lineup, they will rise or fall pending the overall health of the lineup. If Crosby/Geno/Letang miss any significant time this year, they will have a real hard time making up that offence.

Agree. I look at the Pens and Caps as the same. They are a year apart. I think the Cals are better than the Penguins on paper. I think Jarry is better than Samsonov but that’s IMO. We both have the same Anchors on D. Jensen is bad. I love Schultz but he’s turned into a liability. Matheson and Ceci aren’t much better. But the forward group is different. The top 6 is the same but the bottom isn’t. They got Hags, Eller, Panik, McMichael. Don’t count on Sprong and then we got McCann and Tanev. That’s it.

Yes. When he played with the Canadiens, there was a reality show based on the construction of his new house, which was close to mine. He then lent the house to Erik Cole when he was traded away

Only in regards to what the points were counted as. In every other way they were not regarded as making the playoffs, from conditional picks to the draft lottery. The Pens did not make the playoffs in 19-20.

Bro chill. I didn’t trade him back. I put him there because I did a post on what the Penguins should really look like. Ceci should not be here. He should be somewhere else look at my other trades. I redid them

Where? In all the official NHL press releases, etc, the play in round is described as the qualifying round for the playoffs. If you did not qualify, you did not make the playoffs.

The pens are probably one of the most interesting teams to watch these next 2 years, it will be very interesting to see what they do, btw I am in a discord league and was curious of your opinions on the trades i made for the penguins, I think it's called discord gm game, You're probably going to have to go to like page 2 of my armchair teams
