That seems like a bit much from Boston imo, especially since Lindholm didn't really have the best year

I just, its not that much of an overpayment, it just seems to be a bit much, maybe take Beecher out and add a 3rd rounder instead. Then I think it's a bit better.

If I were Boston I would push hard to replace Beecher with another prospect (maybe one of the 2015 guys), but this is a very interesting trade. Gives ANA less of headache for the Seattle draft too

We discussed this before, so what I’m about to say won’t come as a surprise:

I think it’s perfect. Bruins sign Hoffman, and everyone’s happy.

If I were Boston I would be trying to move Beecher before the stink of his freshmen season spreads to other teams.

What? First of all, his year wasnt that bad. he was over a .5 PPG on an average UM team as a true freshman. Their team will be much better this coming season, and he will have a bigger role. Secondly, you think his year is like a secret to other teams? You dont think they would check in with their amateur scouts about a guy theyre trading for?

Sigh. Okay, i guess i thought what i said would kind of be a given but I’ll expand on it.

Trade him before his post draft deficiencies outweigh his draft position clout.

I guess agree to disagree. I think teams value their amateur scouting more than they do a guys draft position. Some teams may be high on him, others may not be. Obviously the bruins know more than you and i do, about how he fits within their team, and his projection. Theyve been wrong before, as has every other team. I just dont think a team would ever say "Well he was a first rounder he must be good" They would do their homework. You also just dont seem high on the player which is fine as well, i think he can blossom into a solid player.

Given don Sweeney’s record, I’m not so sure he knows more than either one of us. The guys just bad at his job.

I’m pretty down the middle with him, don’t love him don’t hate him. The leash has gotten shorter though.

If he’s the hang up between adding lindholm i don’t even think twice. Have fun playing for Anaheim’s AHL team kid.

I mean this will go down another rabbit hole, but im torn on this one. Not huge on Hoffman (also, no guarantee you get him) and Gryz will be lost in expansion. Plus Lindholm will be one year from UFA after this one. Love the player but im torn on if it really puts the team over the edge. But i do understand the core is aging, and it may be time to go all in and worry about the consequences later.

The deal was suggested by one of the most emphatic and authoritative Boston adherents. so you can consider that it's passed muster.

First off, i don’t think there’s any reason to think its a foregone conclusion the bruins lose grizz in expansion. Make a trade before the draft. Make a trade with Seattle. Protect four d men.

Either way, i think after this season, the bruins won’t have a first line center, so who cares? Load up and make a run.

Looking at some of the trades in the past with Vegas, it can get ugly. In this scenario, giving up Debrusk, i guess you would leave Kase, Smith as exposed. Which i guess is fine.

Like i said, i dont agree with it, but i do understand the going all in on the aging core thing. I wouldn't blame the B's either if they went that route. I just think it depends on how good your odds are. Lets say you make this deal and Hoffman does sign. Is that enough to get you the cup, and if not, how much wiggle room do you have to make another move? I see both sides. It doesnt seem like they are gonna go that direction, but i understand the thought process.
