Pretty sure you can’t just put a player who isn’t good on LITR unless they retire or are actually injured

That's my comment as well. Ladd played in the playoffs last year and I cant find anything about an offseason injury. Face it Islanders fans, you're stuck with that contract unless you wanna pay to get out of it

He never referenced Ladd by name, but if he does, it’s most likely true. The guy hasn’t missed. Usually calls something before the big guys like Bob and Elliotte do.

Yeah he’s usually spot on - my gut feeling is it’s someone like komarov or hickey, not ladd. But we’ll see

The Isles' Athletic writer also seems to think it will happen and I usually have faith in those guys. Still, I'll believe it when I see it

His tweets today were quite ominous, I don’t think Hickey retires or anything and I don’t think Leo does either. Ladd seems likely to me

Hickey LTIR - he’s had 2 concussions in the last 2 seasons - and im pretty sure he had set backs during his recovery.

The isles tanked his value but he was always a good player.

Lou knew toews was close to NHL ready and we already had Leddy and pelech, made no sense to sign him

Yeah I know, although at the time Hickey was signed no one knew how much of a beast Pelech would become

During the 17-18 season pelech played 2nd pairing minutes and was in the 85th percentile for XGA/60 (expected goals against per 60 minutes). He was better than most of the league at preventing quality chances against in a year where the team played with no structure. No doubt trotz helped him out, but he didn’t turn this nobody into a top pairing guy, he had a positive impact before trotz became HC.

I’d expect Lou/trotz to have an idea of what they have before signing another D for 4 years.

What do you think the term and money will be on Barzal's new deal? Is there contract comparable in your eyes?

So 6.75 million for 3 years?
How do Islanders become cap compliant?

If one of Ladd, Leo or Hickey go to LTIR were fine. If not, we bite the bullet and trade assets to dump a bad contract. That’s the unfortunate reality of the isles rn

Between 7-7.5 mill for 2-3 years.

The best hockey rumor account on twitter hinted that someone is going on LTIR or retiring - not sure who. They’ll probably have to cap dump komarov and bury a bunch of older players in the AHL

The one thing trotz did help him with is his decision making in the offensive zone. Before trotz arrived pelech pinched at the worst times and it resulted in many odd man rushes - pelech still does it occasionally .

By the eye test I can see why you would say that - he made some bonehead plays, but overall he was actually decent offensively. Trotz system has held back pulock and pelech offensively (pulock was insane 17-18 season) . Pelech was awesome in transition during the playoffs so I hope that’s a sign of things to come. If he can be better offensively he can be a true #1, he’s more of a #2 right now.
