Although i agree, this season is gonna be a chinese firedrill, if its 48 games or something, we could finish just about anywhere. Im starting to think its gonna get canceled. How many teams need people in the seats just to break even, and how much money are the players going to accept to play? Sure they lose some to escrow, and some can be deferred, but theres still questions, plus i think its a given theres gonna be a canadian division because the border likely will still be closed. So, yeah, fixing the lhd and goalie makes this a much better team, but i expect too many crazy things in a shortened season to say they definitely make the playoffs.

Coyotes have too many RD as is I don’t think this would work unless they can trade Demers or Goligoski. Plus I’d rather have Miller cause Montour is walking right into FA.

True, but I’d rather have a 1B goalie on an expiring contract than a 2nd pair D that they don’t have room for on an expiring deal.

Tage Thompson played UNO games this season...now he is on your first line, I mean I dunno, ya look at the rest of the Atlantic (Tampa, Boston, Toronto, Montreal) competition is pretty tough right now.

Boston got worse IMO, tampa is 100% getting worse, toronto is toronto, and the habs are well... the habs, and they can always make a wildcard

No doubt Boston got a little worse, and Tampa is beginning to decline, Montreal is definitely got a lot better, and you’re right lmfao Toronto, they can’t get out of the first round.

I just think you don’t have 4 solid forward lines. Your third line (assuming Olofsson and Thompson swap cause Thompson is probably not gonna be on your first line) is a complete risk. 3 pretty much rookies on a line I don’t think is a thing that will help you win important games. Third lines these days seem to be crucial to a teams success.

Helps that ruotsalainen has pro experience and is on fire rn, and im sure the sabres know something we dont about thompson if they gave him over 1 mil for 3 years

Well, sure ruotsalainen is fantastic in Europe right now, but that doesn’t always translate to NHL ice. I see Tampa, Boston, Toronto, and maybe Montreal making the playoffs, due to the known good 3rd and 4th line depth. I don’t think this team would be enough.

Also is this goaltending enough?

Vasy, Mchileny
Rask, Halak
Andersen, Campbell
Price, Allen
Ranta,Ullmark

Like out of all of those sadly Buffalo is the worst.

Montour would be making near $4 mil to be the odd man out on defense! Or one of our other 3 RD would, and they’re all around that price point. $4 mil>$800k that’s bad asset mgmt lol.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t do this deal, I’m just saying they need to get rid of someone first. And I don’t see that happening tbh, Army seems content to go into the season with the current roster.

Its not comparing 4 to 800K its 3.85 to 4.25 which saves you cap space and you can trade Demers which makes space for both Montour AND Hill and saves you even more cap

If trading Demers is so easy, why hasn’t it been done?

They have, they were talking with the Flyers about a deal when FA opened. And even if they hadn’t, wouldn't that seem to indicate they’re happy with the current blue line?

Again, I’d prefer to do this trade and find a way to get rid of Demers. All I’m saying is that the deal will not happen as the coyotes roster is currently constructed.
