Kerfoot < Caufield
Holl <<<<< Weber (HOF D man not just good)
Anderson <<<<<<<<<<<< Price (over paid by 1.5 Mil but still HOF goalie)
Marner >>> Danault (Still a top Selke candidate)

So yes Montreal passes and hangs up.

You clearly don't understand how horrible Carey Price's contract is. The only way Montreal rejects this is if they think Caufield is going to be a lot better than Mitch Marner.

On contracts alone I want NOTHING to do with 39 year old $10.5 million carey price or 41 year old $7.857 million shea weber

Marner is a 95 point scorer RIGHT NOW. What happens if he breaks out and has a draisaitl like explosion at 24-25? He's got it in him, and we signed him through his 28th birthday. Trading Marner, especially for some aging guys on obscene contracts would be a disaster

let’s break this down a little more...

Caufield is no doubt going to be better than Kerfoot, unless something catastrophic happens. Caufield >> Kerfoot

Weber is better than Holl... but the price, age and term difference makes the skill gap a little less important. Weber still has more value though. Weber >> Holl

Marner is a lot better than Danault. Danault is a good two way player, but so is Marner. and the last I heard, Danault wasn’t happy with his defensive role in Montreal. Marner also puts up quite a few more points. So Marner >>>> Danault

Now it gets more interesting.... HOF goalie Carey Price has the exact same career SV% as guess who? Frederik Andersen. Price has had a far more successful team in front of him for his career than Andersen, better defence as well. You could argue “Price has a better GAA.” and well yeah, that is true. I think how many pucks a goalie stops in a game (SV%) is more important being as GAA, imo, is more of a team stat than a goalie stat. So given the fact the Andersen is $5M cheaper, 2 years younger, and has equal career SV%....... Andersen >> Price.

Oh yeah, and Andersen isn’t being paid TEN AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS UNTIL HE IS 39!

They aren’t 2 of the worst contract in the league since at least they are good unlike the Eriksson’s and Okposo’s

Andersen will not be better than Price for a couple years and Danault is better defensively than Marner but Marner could grow into the defensive role of Danault

Their SV% over their careers are equal....
and price has been on more successful teams, with better defence.

Danault is better defensively than Marner. but Marner is also good defensively. Not to mention the offensive gap. Danault also doesn’t seem to like the defensive role he plays in Montreal and wants to get to play offence more, or that is what I read in an article a bit ago.

LMAO Price has had WAAAAY worse teams in front of him than Anderson! Even early in his career Price was never on a contending team. When the Habs did make the playoffs it was because Price clawed and dragged them into the playoffs, not because they deserved to be there for the most part. Price has had a HOF career and Freddie won't ever hit that height his habit of choking in the playoffs will haunt his entire career. To even suggest he will hit HOF status is an insult to all HOFers.

Hold on, I suggested Freddy will hit HOF status? when? you’re funny.

Andersen’s career playoff SV% is .001 less than Price’s. and this past year in the playoffs/play-in Andersen had a .963....

I simply stated facts and opinions as to why Andersen is better to have on a team than Price.

Their SV% are identical. Andersen is younger, costs half as much and isn’t being paid $10.5M until he is 39...

It’ll be a lot of fun for MTL when Price and Weber really decline and they’re stuck paying them a combined how much? a little over $18M

last 4 years: (FYI goals saved above average is = [ league avgSV% x SF ] - GA)

pick one.

235gp | .913sv% all situations // .921sv% 5v5 // .926sv% on PP // .873sv% on PK | 607GA | 6988 Shots |13.27 Goals Saved Above Average | +7.3 wins vs. replacement goaltender

244gp | .916sv% all situations // .924sv% 5v5 // .910sv% on PP // .878sv% on PK | 656GA | 7798 Shots | 34.57 Goals Saved Above Average | +18.1 wins vs. replacement goaltender

one of these goalies is 31 making 5 million for one more year, the other is 33 making 10.5 million for 6 more years

Did you or did you not say Anderson >>> Price? Price will be a HOFer so suggesting Freddie is better than Price means you ABSOLUTELY called him a HOFer!

Who cares about Sv% or GAA or wins vs losses when you can't win on the playoffs!

How many vesnas has he won? How many times was Freddie voted all-world? The guy is a choke artist when it counts!

he won the vezina 5 years ago, he was a fantastic goalie 5 years ago, amazing in fact, when he got all his gold medals

but we're not talking about 5 years ago carey price, we're talking about 33 year old carey price, who appears to be declining and is locked up till 39 at $10.5M

Price's experience is: lose second round in 5, swept in first round, lose in 3rd round in 5, lose third round in 5, lose first round in 7, miss playoffs, lose first round in 5, lose conference finals in 6, lose second round in 6, miss playoffs, lose first round in 5, miss playoffs, miss playoffs, lose first round in 6

he's been around longer, but not exactly a conn smythe and a couple cup rings. again, it prob wasn't his fault either, he's a hall of famer, but you can't then turn around and laugh at freddy for having the same exact save percentage numbers and not having success either

Also I'd hardly qualify 17 less playoff games one more conference finals appearances as being "way more"

Ok you want to talk about today only! How many rounds of the playoffs did Anderson win? Oh right a 3rd straight first round exit! (Yes I am being generous cause technically this time the Leafs didn't even make the playoffs but ask any true fan or player and the play ins were the start of the playoffs even if the league doesn't want to admit to it) Now how far did Price and Co. Go oh right they beat the Pens handily in the first round and pushed the Flyers to 6 games. So Price was twice as good as Anderson AGAIN!

They both had identical save percentages, the reason the leafs lost is because they couldn't score, not because their goaltending sucked. They got out worked by Columbus and couldn't get a lucky bounce on a super hot Korpisalo. He was a career .897-.905sv% goalie, had a .911sv% this year, and in his first ever playoff appearance pulled a .941sv% out of absolutely nowhere

Did Freddie steal the series or did the Leafs drop out of the first round again? 3 years in a row! That is why every Leafs blockbuster trade today has had Anderson being moved for a better option INCLUDING Price here! In fact I dare to say that a large majority of Leafs ACGM's from actual Leafs fans only this off season have had Anderson being traded where as only a small fraction of Habs ACGM's from actual Habs fans only have had Price being traded. That is pretty telling especially when about 1/6th of all Anderson trades are to the Habs for Price! But yeah Anderson is the better goalie! LMAO!

Take a look through the first page of Leafs trades just today there are 25 proposed trades and Anderson was included in 12 of them! Of the 25 on the Habs side I did not see a single one proposing to get rid of Price!
