Why in the world would anyone want Sebrook. Even if some of the contract is retained.

It's not insane. The SJ trade seems like something up Bowman's alley and with all of the bottom 6 guys we've been picking up, Kampf seems a little superfluous. Nylander for a 2nd is probably fair value but I feel like we should just keep him and see if he becomes anything, we're in it for the long haul with him.

The meat of this is obviously Seabrook for Okposo and I definitely like the creativity lol. The extra year on Seabs' contract definitely complicates this (not to mention his NMC, but let's pretend it doesn't exist), even though he probably won't be playing at the end of it. We'd probably have to send a 1st and maybe something else, in addition to Regula. I think the biggest roadblock would be the fact that Okposo is actually still somewhat effective, especially on the defensive side; had a very nice year last year in that respect. I don't know if Seabrook for Okposo would work, but if we could find another expensive deal with 3/4 years on it, that could be a little more doable.

Might sound dumb but I'm not sure if I would take this from a Sharks perspective. Kampf is obviously the better player, but we can't afford to add a one way contract while losing a 2-way. Especially since our bottom 6 is already an absolute logjam and a half lol.

Wild don't have room for Nylander and wouldn't trade a 2nd for him anyway, pass

yeah this was the main point. BUF assumes the unknown and a few sweeteners and takes the chance of an LTIR guy for a serviceable but obviously overpaid asset. If the plan worked, they would have 6M in LTIR with the intrigue of resigning Hall.

Kampf is a great 4C at a cheap price, trading him creates another hole. I would use Strome and Nylander as sweeteners to unload Seabrook, he's likely going to need more retention than that and a different destination.

Sabres would need assurance that Seabrook would not come off of LTIR at any point during this contract to do this

Is Shaw even going to play again? Detroit doesn't have to move Helm. He's overpaid, but still an effective Bottom 6 guy, good on the penalty kill, and very responsible defensively. No thank you.
