Oh no...

There are about 15 different wingers that I would rather have that are cheaper
the process got tedious quick and I opted not to
also, the idea that some guys are cheaper is true, but it's because of their signing age/performance at the time of signing etc. etc.
There's 3 players with more primary assists per 60 than marner (McDavid, Stamkos, and Wheeler) since 16-17. Take that to just the last 2 seasons and it's only McDavid.
In terms of points/60, marner is 15th behind Matthews, Point, Bergeron, Kane, MacKinnon, Crosby, Huberdeau, Panarin, Malkin, Draisaitl, Marchand, Stamkos, McDavid, Pasta, and Kucherov (all some of THE BEST players in the league, bar-none).
Before you complain about his contract, he's 23 (was 22 all of last year), where-as those other guys are mostly pushing 30, save for some who are in their prime (25-29) and signed their deals when the cap was lower and/or before they actually started playing well (MacKinnon, Pasta, Huberdeau etc.)
Even if you take a guy like Kucherov, his deal carries him till he's 34. Marner's takes him till he's 28, right in the middle of his prime.
He very well could eclipse 100 points before we know and it surpass a lot of these guys. He's playing worlds better than most of them did at the same point in their career
