And matched. Teams can go over the cap by 10% in the offseason.

Work would have to be done after, but Barzal is not leaving.

Does Montreal just like doing other teams favours with their low offer sheet attempts? Aho used the last year to get his deal done, and now you would just be helping the Islanders than they match and Montreal just is black listed by another GM for future trades

Oh i know they would match it - just for fun.... but maybe Barzal just wants to get it done and out of way? But who would they dump? Alot of teams are tight on cap.

NYI would be screwed more than Tampa. Look at the hoops they had to go through trying to get rid of Johnson (who's an actual solid player), imagine what NYI would have to give up for Boychuck/Ladd who are glorified boat anchors?

Teams have no money right now and zero people would be in a rush to help Lou, ESPECIALLY if he matched an offersheet and was like $6m over the cap

If NSH wants to win-now, yeah they do that deal - the value is there. But I don't think NSH is in the position to trade their 1st + one of their top prospects for two UFAs that they have no guarantee of signing. And with Johansen - Duchene in the top 6, I don't know if Danault would want to resign as a 3C -- and maybe then you have the same issue you had when Turris was on the team --> too many centers and not enough ice time/quality teammates to go around. And I don't think that Poile would want to sign a 30+ year old Tatar to a long-term extension when those contracts haven't really turned out that well for him recently.

Ladd will not be traded, the amount of assets needed to do so would be ridiculous. He most likely is buried again and the Isles saves about $1,075,000. IDEAL situation is LTIR.
Boychuk is the ideal player to be traded, probably retain $2M on him and attach some assets. That would save $4M.
Hickey can be traded or buried, if they bury him they save $1,075,000

Still a lot of work to do for sure but it can be done.

Leddy can also be bought out giving the Islanders the money they need. Is it ideal? No. Is it doable? Yes

I do not think they would do this, according to Arthur Staple part of the reason them moved Toews is Trotz liked Leddy better.

I agree with all of this, except the value for Nashville - MAYBE if the 1st is lottery protected.

black listed? How many trades has Habs GM made since the Aho offersheet last year? Anderson, Allen, Edmunston recently, also flipped Scandella ...
