That’s probably right. It’s not worth spending assets to get a goalie till after the expansion draft though so I’m happy they didn’t limit their options.

I think RNH plays with McDavid and Kahun get a shot with Draisaitl. Ennis, Nygard, and Benson might all get time as 3LW, I think Neal is destined to play on the 4th line, and get PP time. If Kassian doesn't play like he's on fire then he might drop down the. Line up too.

Meh, they can get us to the playoffs, they did last year in the regular season. Would love to see a TDL move...like they did last cup run with Roloson. Perhaps Kuemper.

I really like the idea of Neal turris jp. Two players I think can complement JP very well. Think Neal will have an improved 5-5 year playing next to turris getting favourable match ups. I’m really curious about broberg think he might end up beating out jones for a regular role.

Just nitpicking but you think Lagesson who has 8 games of experience is going to make more then Kahun who is coming off back to back 30+ point seasons. Can't be overpaying players 200-250k in covid cap!

I see Neal, Turris and Kassian being the 3rd line, Nuge, McDavid and JP on the top unit believe it be JP’s to lose in training camp the lines are much more balanced with JP on McDavids wing, Neal is going to have to be better 5 on 5 or Ennis will push him down the line up, for the first time in 10 yrs Edmonton has a strong top 9 with some depth on the wings and centre, looking at this group I don’t see how Benson gets any playing time outside of major injuries

From reading between a lot of lines threw this entire jp situation this past year it seems he won’t be gifted time with mcdavid will need to earn his way to it. He’s a young man don’t hold it against him but did appear there was an element of entitlement. I think it’s very wise to address that and make it a point to climb up depth chart but also put him in a very fair position to do so unlike past coaching staff that said similar things but kept deploying him with lucic no matter how obvious it was lucic was destroying his game. So far I’m extremely impressed with how holland dealt with this situation. Respectful towards the player but stood firm. I picture Mcloed earning a spot before benson. Mcloed nearly made the team this past year and his competition is haas and jj two guys with more experience but not exactly stiff competition real chance there to earn 4th line duties.

I agree JP shouldn’t be gifted anything, putting him with McDavid is the best position for him to succeed let him come into camp full of confidence in his game that he’s built up over the last 16 months playing over seas it’s his job to lose in training camp, putting him on a line with Neal is like sticking him with Lucic, Holland play this one perfect he’s already shown JP that if he wants to be a NHLer he’s doing on Edmonton’s terms not his I think he’s going to have the same kinda impact Yamamoto did, with JP, Yamamoto and now Kahun signing we basically added 3 top 6 wingers for around 3 mil
I don’t see Mcloed pushing for a job this yr no need to rush him he didn’t have that great of yr last yr and still needs to work on his compete level night in and night out, we have lots of pro depth at centre Haas is a perfect 4th line centre great checker good defender and hard worker and has more skill then he’s shown he’ll get some looks on the PK this yr also

Agree with majority except comparing Neal to being like sticking with lucic very different players and I feel Neal can fire the puck and play a more complementary game with jp if that’s how things shake out. Lucic didn’t have any skill set that worked with jp all he could do is crash the net but arriving 10 seconds after the puck is already heading the opposite way. I just feel Neal gets viewed more negatively than he deserves ya his contract isn’t ideal but he does still have some useful tools in his game that I’m actually a big fan of.

Outside being a good net front presence on the PP his game is lacking, when Neal is engaged in the game moving his feet and playing the body he’s still effective as a bottom 6 forward but we only see that out of him every 5th or 6th night not the type of player you want playing with JP, Neal and Chiasson when engaged can be effective with the players added this yr not sure how much PP time they’ll see, Turris being a right shot I can see him getting first line PP time also, I can see both of them being healthy scratches at time this yr more competition might bring the best out of them
