Description
So Hoffman wants to get paid and nobody is giving him fair value. Let’s take a look at what we can do in mtl to make it work on a short term contract.
Wow that pp is stacked and the lines are deep as ever. I didn’t realize how good this would look on paper.
The trades can be tinkered I’m sure we can move those pieces. Kulak and weal are cheap so I don’t see a problem. Byron is a little more expensive and teams might be weary due to his shortened season. But he’s a great player when healthy and a great leader in the dressing room.

Not to mention we don’t have the cap space to harbor your team’s rejects

Both these players make your team better. Kulak easily fits on your left side and Weal could be a very affective bottom 6

I like kulak as a 3rd paring LHD for a late pick.

Our forward group is set.

Yeah and he would be the 15th forward on the team if we acquired him. We don't need him.

Ok I didn’t realize the wild were that stacked. I mean he fits in mtls lineup no doubt but in this scenario I had to move him out to make room for Hoffman. Can we just say that Minny counters with a 5th and we accept?
I originally thought he’d would be an upgrade over Foligno Bujgstad and Hartman

Weal. Can go in the minors without money on the cap. He shouldn’t be in that trade. Mtl just puts him in Laval!

Kulak for a 4th is a hell of a deal!

Rejects lol take a look at your own team. Eakins and the Latvian rap star Girgunstyles

Byron is simply overpaid in this market. Habs would need to give incentives that’s why they need to keep Lord Byron

Mtl shouldn’t be trading Kulak. They really don’t need to make these moves.

Hoffman can kick rocks. Empty calorie player that Julien would ruin

Weals whole contract can not be avoided by sending him to the minors. Only partially. He’s not on a 2-way deal. That’s why he’s involved in that trade and that’s also why I only asked for a 4th for Kulak. Kulak should be a third but I dropped it to a 4th and sent a 7th in order for them to take the entire 1.4 off our hands

The problem with Byron to MN is that most of their moves have been to make space for their up and coming talent to play and grow. They are not going to add anymore vets to the lineup. They’ll be trading bjustad, bonino and Johansson at the deadline. Maybe not all of them but they were brought in as stop fap expendable assets.

Yes I see that and I get it. I feel like Byron would be a huge bounce back candidate on a team where he can get good 3rd line minutes and pk time. Than trade him at the deadline the following year for more than you paid for him

I never said it’s not a 1 way deal. 300k would be the cap hit. The horror. It’s not significant enough to beg Buffalo to take Weal. It’s pointless trading Weal’s cap hit

Byron has health issues now and is an older player. I agree he’s a valuable player when healthy but no team would be willing to take that risk at that cap hit

Hoffman could do much better somewhere else. Montreal is deep at F, so he wouldn’t have as much opportunity as if he got 1st line minutes on another team.

Also, I wouldn’t touch Hoffman at $5.5M by 2 years.

1 year at 3-4 million MAX I'd offer Hoffman. He wouldn't fit at all with Julien's system. Much rather see them go after a player like Mikael Granlund for less money and would be a better fit
