NSH is in on Hoffman. If they sign him this fairytale of Killorn to NSH is over.
Hoffman probably comes in at 2-3 years at 3 to 3.5 million.
The only reason he's no signed yet is he doesn't like the offers, but no one is giving him a better one.
Teams aren't worried about helping TB right now. They are more worried about their own internal issues. A. signing RFA. B. Making sure their prospects who are basically NHL ready are getting ice time and playing time somewhere. With no CHL, anyone up there who is 18-19 years old, who looks even remotely capable of playing, has just as good a chance of making an NHL roster. Because everyone knows they aren't going to develop as players by not playing. If the option is between them sitting for the year and giving them a roster spot, they are most likely getting a roster spot. Their 6-8 minutes on the ice isn't going to kill a team, if anything it's a chance for them to prove something. But them not playing a year is definitely damaging to teams long term plans.
