I like the idea of Vatanen OR Hamonic, but both and honestly even one just doesn't really make sense.
On the left side you have Klef (LTIR), Nurse, Jones, Russell, Lagesson, Samorukov and Broberg. They need to make a decision on Jones, Lagesson and Samorukov in the next year. So pretty much they need playing time. Samorukov still has another year in the AHL I believe. With his play last year, Jones is looking to be a regular in the lineup. Lagesson likely has the 7th spot locked up and might get a chance to take over Russells spot over the course of the season.
As for the right side, you have Larsson, Barrie and Bouchard this year. Larsson will obviously be playing for the time being since its his contract year, but with his back injuries the previous year, I think he might not be overly reliable for the upcoming season. In that case, although Russell can play both sides, I think it would be great to have one of Hamonic or Vatanen on the right side. But the thing is, if you have Bouchard up, he needs to be playing. If Barrie and Larsson are playing regularly, there just isn't room. Neither will sign to be an extra man.
