Buffalo declines, Don't see Stamkos waiving his NMC for Buffalo. Johnson will cost far more then a 2nd round pick to move his contract. He's 30 years old and has been trending down here of late making $20 million for 4 more seasons. Detroit declines BriseBois would need to eat at least $1.5 mil on Johnson plus add a 1st round pick on top of it to move his contract.

Johnson would be exposed to Seattle. I don’t think wings should give back a pick though.

But again... he has a full ntc.

The "any team" trades aren't happening cause there isn't any team that's going to want to take those guys unless they're getting better compensation to take them then what you're offering here.

Also I can't see any team giving that much for Stamkos considering his injury history and age plus his NMC will make him difficult to move.

Stamkos choose a pay cut to go to Tampa and he have a NMC that he will use, so stamkos ain’t going no where, the first player to go is killorn than you will loose sergy or cirrelli, Tampa fans don’t understand the **** they are in, they think that they can get value from their player when they have 2.8m to sign 5 players plus sergy cirelli and cernak, 2.8m isn’t enough to sign 5 minimum contract so guys just stop thinking you will get value from your player when your team at this point can’t even comply to cap space rules

Correct. Stamkos drives his boat to the arena! He has a young family. He's not going anywhere!

    This.

    Brisebois overplayed his hand.
2 or 3 teams at this point can help the Bolts as opposed to a dozen before the draft/free agency.
    Killorn will be given away.
TJ will need incentives to trade away but not a 1st rounder and retained money though. That's a joke.
TJ will go to Seattle in 2021 and no one is giving 1st round picks anymore with ELCs being so valuable.

Jersey and LA have, there's some that have cap space like Columbus but they have Dubois and Gavrikov to sign yet, seriously there isn't much cap space left in the league, thought Van and the Isles might of done a buyout with their recent RFA'S who filed for arbitration signed but they didn't, going to be interesting to see how these teams deal with their cap issues, I'm expecting to see some LTIR shenanigans used to get some teams cap compliant.

I think what might be overlooked about Johnson though is Seattle may not want him or may want to be compensated to take him so any teams that are contemplating taking TJ from Tampa might be looking at his acquisition as being longer then just a year or factoring in the other asset (s) they might lose to Seattle to select TJ so they want to be compensated well for helping out the Stanley Cup champs.

I know it's being considered as a lock that Seattle will select Johnson cause he's from Spokane but there's no guarantee that Francis will want him.

I wonder if the league will crack down ever on LTIR. Another thing to consider is internal budgets as a team may have the cap but the owner isn’t willing to open their wallets. I think teams that still are in arbitration have like 2 days from the verdict for that second phase of buyouts. I was thinking Bertuzzi’s arbitration was a way to buyout Nielsen but that time lapsed iirc.

I wish they'd crack down on it, such bull**** the way they let teams get out of a jam they got themselves into.

Yeah that's a factor too that fans wouldn't know, teams may have some cap space but they might not want to use it.

I was thinking Vancouver and the Islanders might of used a buyout after their RFA's signed, actually thought the Isles were gonna have two buyouts and use them.

    B. TB has already done the math and losing a 40 goal scorer to keep a 20 goal scorer isn't it.

no one is taking TJ. There are so many things wrong with his contract. A. he's a 30 year old midget player in a time teams are trying to get bigger.
    B. He has a M-NTC and no team want t to take on contracts like that,
    C. It's 4 years and 20 million of cap space. Who wants him till he's 34...no one.
My guess is it takes more than a 1st to move him. Forwards are a dime a dozen. If he was a defenseman with 1-2 years and had some size you might have had someone pick him up on waivers. But he's basically unmovable in this environment. You will probably end up retaining and giving up more than a 1st.
You might be able to give Killorn away for free....might. The problem is, no one has cap space to take on 4.5 million in cap. There are like 4-5 teams in the whole league who can do that. Most of which really don't have a need for a guy who's 31 making 4.5 million. OTT, LA, DET, FL are all basically in a rebuild. They don't need nor want older player contracts. You are down to basically NSH as the only real fit, but they can get hoffman who's a better player cheaper in FA. So why would they.
