I am a little bit surprised more teams aren't shoring up players for a taxi squad.

Shocked there are so many no's.

Dubas gets to do right by a guy who he put in a bad situation. He gets NHL guaranteed money for 2 years to play in the AHL. Hutch also meets the expansion draft requirements for goalie exposure. So if the Leafs don't re-sign Freddy or another goalie before the expansion draft, they can still protect Campbell if they want to. This costs nothing but cash, and I really don't mind when a GM does things like this to garner good will from players.

NHL vet with the extra season under contract to expose to the Kraken, duh! I thought you were smarter than that.

I guess Dubas couldn't get Dell signed for the extra season for expansion exposure and Dubas doesn't wanna trade for a goalie to expose.

Just for the fun of it there going to trade Anderson cause they've got to fringe starter/backup goalies know. Maybe a rebuild in a year or two????

This deal is less about the success of the player and more about managing waivers the Seattle expansion draft and the cap moving fwd. Two years ago the Leafs lost two goalies on waivers in a matter of a couple weeks and essentially had to scramble to fill the hole it left, Pickard and macalhaney were the two goalies i believe. Dell isnt waiver excempt so if a team has an injury or any hole at Goaltending he most likely gets claimed. Hutchinson contract also meets exposure criteria for the Seattle draft. It is also a very manageable cap hit that can be moved up and down if need be in paper transactions to meet the daily cap constraints that the Leafs will have to deal with all season. So on the surface this deal makes no sense to the passing uneducated NHL fan but under the surface this is very good managing but the Leafs
