If klef was fully healthy no way oilers make the trade but with his current condition I have a hard time seeing anyone give anything up for him. Tough situation.

You are really good at understanding sarcasm, lol jk.

But why wouldn't they go for it this year and set themselves up for success in the coming years while retaining a nice young core still? All of those pieces that are traded are beyond expendable.

Why does everyone suggest Kuraly and Wagner are more valuable than Nick Ritchie (all 3 are similar $) when it's basically impossible due to RFA/UFA alone

Kuraly and Wagner can skate. Kuraly isn't the best 4C but at least he is good on the forecheck, is reliable defensively/on the PK and has energy. And that ability to be clutch.
Wagner, well, he blocks shots and hits? I don't mind if he's gone
So far, Ritchie doesn't seem to be a good fit on any line and all he's done is take a stupid penalty in the playoffs. At least, if he was signed for one year as free agent but no, another year in his contract and we gave Danton Heinen for this guy smh

Kuraly is a very good 4th liner that finds another gear in the playoffs. In fact over the last 3 years at 5v5 he's 5th among Bruins in points and trails Krejci & Bergeron by only 2pts. Can also play LW and just give you 100% every shift.

Wagner I think gets some biased love because he's a hometown guy. He throws a lot of hits (which fans love) and occasionally gets on a bit of a heater and has a small stretch where he puts up points.

Ritchie, well I've made my thoughts on him known. Big guy, no really desire be a better player. Late on plays, takes to many penalties and is (like his brother) a fringe NHLer right now.

I disagree about Ritchie and I feel like he has taken some heat for those penalties we all celebrated when Lucic was the perpetrator. I don't think his hit was bad and I want him standing up for his teammates. I think they were BS calls and although he ended up taking dumb penalties, most if not all should have been matching.

Bruins of years past would have killed those and used the momentum. The problem is the Bruins tried to solve their size problem with one guy - meanwhile other than Bergeron and Coyle everyone else in top 9 is 6' tall or shorter.

Ritchie by far has the higher celling.

The difference between Ritchie and Lucic is that Lucic was potting 20-30 a year. You can swallow a dumb penalty or two when they guy is your top line LW and is giving you hard minutes every night. Its another thing when Ritchie gets 13 minutes when hes not on the 7th floor and still finds a way to take a dumb penalty. Hes lazy, hes behind the pace of play, plays die on his stick, he hardly possesses the puck, and when he does dump it in, hes too slow to really get on the forecheck unlike a Coyle or Debrusk. He lacks an urgency to his game. Id rather see Frederic get a spot than him.

Ritchie will be 25yr old when next season starts and he'll be entering his 6th year in the league....ceilings are irrelevant at this point. Ritchie is a roughly 30pt big bodied winger who takes a lot of penalties. He can throw hits and drop the gloves. He's a bottom 6 forward who (due to his conditioning) could be out of the NHL in the next 2 years.

It’s a about conditioning with Ritchie. He needs to step it up. Hopefully Whiteside has time to get on his ass this year. If he does. You may see a new Ritchie. One can only hope.

Holland seems to be dead set on fast skating players. If Ritchie (i do not know a lot about him) is not above average there will be no spot for him on our bottom six. Might as well keep the pick, unless you are willing to take on someone like Chiasson.

The main problem i have with this thought is that youre gonna lose either Gaudreau or Ekholm in expansion, lose Hoff to FA. I understand the idea of "going all in" But you're losing significant assets and could wind up in a tail spin next year. I guess i just disagree with the philosophy, i dont think any of the trades are off value or anything though, and i do understand the thought process!
