not too sure about that. Konecny might end up being better than gaudreau in the long run. Joel Farabee has a ton of potential. definetly more than dube and Giroux is a better 1C than Monahan. you could adjust the picks back to meet real value but i am one of the firm believers here in Calgary that gaudreau and Monahan will never be the top line that takes us to a Stanley cup

Giroux hasn't played center in 3 years, he is not a better 1C. All he does is take right handed faceoffs. Konecney could be better than Gaudreau but not super likely. This trade is overall really bad for Calgary

disagree even if giroux hasnt played centre in 4 years hes still an upgrade over Monahan in every category except age and salary. but your part of the side that thinks sticking with the current core gets us anywhere when we have 4 straight seasons of failure to prove otherwise but i guess we will just keep losing.

Konecny had a better year this past season than Gaudreau. He's 5 years younger and on a cheaper deal for long term. I'd rather have Konecny than Gaudreau but we can say they're even.
Giroux is an all around better player than monahan but monahan is 6 years younger and cheaper. I'd rather have monahan at this point in their careers but again I think they're pretty even in value.
Prospects are mostly opinion but I'd say farabee is a better prospect than dube. But not a 1st 2nd and 3rd better. I think it's a fair deal if you take out the 2nd and 3rd.
With all that said I think Philly declines. I think they're invested in the team they have and any moves they make will be minor

this might be the dumbest thing ive ever read. can you not comprehend the fantastical ideas of progression, learning from failure, improvement, coming together as a team, reaching the next goal line, They have ****ing won one playoff round or missed the playoffs for the last 10 seasons and you think they are not failing.

Not winning the stanley cup doesnt mean failure. doing the same thing year after year and losing the same way at the same time year after year and then not changing anything and expecting to somehow be better next season is the defineition of failure. even if the flames sold their entire team and did a rebuild it could be considered a step in the right direction and not a failure.

might aswell go all the way and say the flames have been failing for 31 seasons in a row

If you are gonna build a contender then take the risk and build the contender. if not, then rebuild and try again. this bull**** idea of oh we will just finish between 7th and 9th every season is brain dead. And dont even bring up the year they finsihed first because they managed to pull off one of the biggest collapses in history by nearly getting swept by colorado. SM and JG are not winners so if I have to lose a trade to get rid of them then I would do it all ****ing day
