Its a cheap signing is what it is. That's good. BUT when is Pinto brought up? What about Norris being in the lineup? These two, especially Norris, should have spots assigned to them not the same constant garbage thats chucked from other teams. You've delayed your elevating the juniors, WHAT THE FRIG IS UP??? I haven't even mentioned the elevating of Bernard-Docker, Tychonick, etc on defence. Etc equals Thomson, etc.

Low risk contract for one year and if he can't produce he will never play in the NHL again.

How on earth does this guy still have a job in the NHL? He shouldn’t be playing in the NHL, and he shouldn’t make more than league minimum.

This has the potential to be one of the best value contracts of the summer.

He is a former 30 goal scorer and 50 point player who is literally 27 and has signed for a smidge above 1 mil.

If he refinds his game which is quite possible at 27 vs 33 when most guys decline it's one of the biggest bargains in the nhl.

If he doesn't he can be waived for no cap hit and a cheap experiment failed.

if I was OTT, I'd simply not sign negative value players.

So he's bad defensively at evens and a high quality power play producer and a third liner at evens offensively? Seems fine for 1 mil. Certainly had the potential to bounce back too

Why’s everyone ripping Gally? He’s going to Ottawa to learn from fellow 3rd overall pick Stutzle how to be good again!

Correct. In OTT's position they'd be better off adding players with more upside and expectations than a PP guy with average even strength numbers.

So what he’s garbage at defense if he puts up 40 points on a team that’s gonna miss the playoffs at least he’ll bring some excitement to the team.

But he won't on the worst team he's played on?

Don’t understand how people think this is a bad signing. He had one rough year after having 5 consecutive seasons of 40+ points. He started playing better when he got traded to MIN too, Pittsburgh just wasn’t the place for him. He’s only 26. Very tradable contract come the deadline.

Maybe you shouldn’t evaluate a player only by the number of point he got ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Then you could find out why he was a bad fit in Pittsburgh and Arizona and Minesota and Montreal....

He just doesn't back check. (- 58 in his career) such a selfish player, a very bad role model for Ottawa's youth.

He will cost a lot more goals than he will produce. But hey, what a shot.

Ehh. For a million bucks it's all upside. If he plays as a pp specialist and does well there he'll get plenty of points and they can flip him for value at the tdl anyway. This is a pure upside move.

That's why I think it's fine. Especially for a team like OTT.

Do not mistake me for someone who only evaluates players for their numbers.

I am not here to advocate Galchenyuk is some crazy awesome player. Bad at defense or not, players who have put up that many points over consecutive years have value. Especially at at 1 mil. Great season or awful season it literally does not matter for Ottawa. Can be buried if he is playing bad, can be traded at the deadline if he's playing good. For a team that is rebuilding to sign a player of this potential to this contract, you can not convince me this is a bad signing. Also, he work ethic has been complimented by Rutherford and pens writers saying he is always one of the last at practice and staying after to work more. Sounds like a good example, no?

Bullsh&?... look at his stats, scores 40+ ponts in 3yrs with mtl, when he was put on healthyscratch and moved a odyssy with phx, pit and min...
I would sign him for a min of 2yrs with 1.5 aavor more. With a contract adding more cash as more producing... same with yakupov

Considering just how much Galchenyuk hurts his team, both on the ice and especially off it, I’d argue that he didn’t.

And if you’re just looking at points in this past season, then he must be better than Vladimir Tarasenko & Alex Tuch.

He's doing so much **** talking about Anderson he's going to be so pissed off when Anderson actually plays healthy. He will go MIA next year and then try and defend himself and just make a fool of himself.

PP is a given. Don't think Ottawa wants to be competitive anyways so they might as well put him on the 1st round and then try and get a pick out of him at the TD
