The tricky part is that even if you're the best team in the conference finals by a bit, you have a hard time getting anything more than some 35-40% chance at winning the cup. Now, this team probably has an edge even on teams like Tampa, Colorado and Vegas, but to make it more probable than not winning a cup, you need some crazy team to make that happen. If you gave me a binary bet on if Team Canada wins the SC playoffs, I don't know if I'd take it. Not because they're not the best team, but because even the best teams lose games. 80% at winning each round results in a 41% chance at the cup. Tampa beating Detroit last year doesn't even reach that 80% to win mark.
So yeah, you're probably out after the conference finals, even if this might be the best team in the league.
