I love how relentless you are with trades. You'd decline a Johnson + 1st if they asked for a 7th back lmfaotears of joy

That’s how you know how delusional he and many other people are on here. Johnson may be overpaid, but let’s not pretend like he wouldn’t automatically become a top 6 player on Detroit cause of how terrible they are and the larger role he’d have. Same thing with Palat.

Well DET doesn't have to spend assets for guys like them in his defense. They are taking a slow-cooker approach and I think it's a good idea.

I’d do that Detroit trade. Mentioned this exactly in another ACGM about a week ago. Pushes Bert down to play 2nd line with his junior buddy Fabbri.

He wouldn't even be in the top 6 guy, so we take a huge Contract for 4 more years on a guy who is declining rapidly? He would be frans Nielsen all over again. We are building through the draft and have 0 use for this player. Tampa has 2 gigantic rfas that they have to sign and have to shed cap space, they are in a bind and everyone should squeeze them for anything they can get. A first from tampa would be the 28-32nd pick, this is not worth taking on 4 years of 5+ million a year. 1 year at around the same salary was a 2nd, so 4 years of 5+ would be what, a pick that's about 10 picks higher then the 2nd we got for staal? I don't think so. the first is not even close to enough for us to take frans Nielsen part 2, the guy is barely a center anymore. He would be a 3rd line wing for us and eventually 4th line/buy out. So based on all of this, why would tj + the 28th-32nd pick be enough for the wings to take him? It's not even close.

As for me being delusional, I find it funny that I have been right on every single trade/non trade that has happened in real life.

Jj did not cost a 2nd to take his contract(jj + 2nd for wings to take him)
Andreas Johnsson did not get Toronto back a 2nd
Mantha was not traded for Domi 😂😂😂😂😂
Maata was not traded for a 3rd
Wings traded 0 picks
Wings did not sign one free agent past 2 year and minimum money. No Krug, markstrom, etc.

I follow the wings, I listen to yzerman, I see from his actions and words what he is doing, so me denying all of these trades isn't cause I'm a homer, its because I actually pay attention and know the direction of the team. You may think some trades are fair value and they may be with other teams, but coming from a wings perspective 98% of the trades are completely ridiculous and the wings will not do them based on how yzerman is growing this team.

Here's my take on the Palat trade: from a Red Wings perspective it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. He's a fine player don't get me wrong, and this trade would definitely improve our team. And depending on how much you value Svechnikov, it's basically for free. Personally I still have some hope for Svech so I don't consider it free, but some might. But I don't think there's anyone arguing that Detroit technically "wins" this trade, at least as of now. Despite this, I still wouldn't do it mainly because I just don't want Palat. I don't see how he would be useful in the long run. He most likely would not be a key piece of our team moving forward, so I don't really see why trading assets for him to basically, in my eyes, take up a roster spot, makes a lot of sense for us. That's what free agency is for, and we did that with Ryan and Namestnikov, signing them to much better deals the what Palat has, and we didn't have to spend assets to get them. If we're going to spend assets on anything, I want it to be on pieces that actually have a chance to be contributors to our team 3, 4 years from now. And admittedly, those are very few and far between. Otherwise for me, I'm just gonna stay away, keep my picks, keep drafting, keep developing, and keep the roster open for guys like Lucas or Berggren or anyone else that may pop up and demand a spot. On top of all that, we are taking Palat from a Tampa team that is currently in the depths of cap hell. I'd pay for BriseBois gas if he wants to personally drive him up here, but that's about as much as I'd pay for Palat. And that's no disrespect to the player. I just don't see why we need him.

You know bud I 7nderstand where you are coming from and how you want to build the right way, but I don’t see how acquiring a solid but overpaid player hurts when you’re pulling in more future assets hurts. Not gonna lie I don’t see 6 forwards on Detroit better than Johnson. I’d give you Bertuzzi, Mantha, Zadina, Larkin but that’s it on the NHL roster. Plus I’d be hard pressed to believe that Johnson is worse than Nielsen, but we are all entitled to our own opinions. Don’t have to like them, but respect it so have a nice day bud. My bad for the delusional comment, that wasn’t necessarily directed at anyone on this post specifically but in general, from what I’ve seen on here.

Florida declines, we don't need that contract until 2026. Especially if you are asking for one of our best defenders back.

This is a terrible take, just cause we don't agree with you're trades and are rebuilding slowly through the draft has nothing to do with being a homer. Taking an aging player who is no longer useful and takes cap space doesn't help with our rebuild at all, it has nothing to do with being a homer.
