Description
our organizational depth is lacking at RHD prospects and LW prospects so the trades add one prospect at each position and save us some cap for next offseason.

Then add a 1st! Tatar is good enough to get a 2nd and A+ prospect as a rental for a contending team like Philly.

I disagree. All I’d pay for Tatar is a second. A first and second is pretty ridiculous.

our organization may not have enough Right D prospects, but there is a good reason for that. Weber and Petry are signed for a long time. that leaves only 1 spot for the right handed prospects/players we have. and thats Juulsen, Fluery, Brook. Mete does play right D, but I won't include him for arguments sake.
as for LW prospects, we have an insane amount of LW prospects. Caufield, Tuch, Farrell, Teasedale, Gorniak and more. in the nhl leve, we have Drouin, Lehkonen, Byron, with toffoli able to play LW as well. the habs have enough depth in all positions among their prospects. now if you're referring to elite prospects, those are hard to get. they don't have an elite prospect at rhd or LW, but both those positions are covered for a long time at the nhl level.

tatar just had back to back seasons of 58pts and 61pts and all you want to give is a 2nd? he will fetch more than that.

I think your forgetting that as a rental this year it is for an entire years worth of hockey not just from the deadline on. Having Tatar allows the Flyers to line up something like

Voracek-Couturier-Konecny
Tatar/Lindblom-Giroux-Raffl
Lindblom/Tatar-Hayes-Aube-kubel
JVR-Laughton-Farabee

their three best players become their top 3 centers filling the hole at 3C

Juulsen or fleury are perfect for that last RD spot they will battle it out.they don't need a 5 foot 9 D either...

The chances of Weber playing out that contract are really low. He is one more significant injury from retirement IMO

Caufield is a RW not a LW (I know that CapFriendly has him listed as a LW but I don't think he has played enough LW to be considered a LW) and the drop off from him to Tuch is significant.

he has about 7 years on his contract. so the habs have the ability to draft 7 more times over the next 7 years, im not worried about out prospect depth. again, we have enough wingers signed. plus, some wingers are capable of playing both sides.

how many of those wingers are 6'5" 194lbs and put up 50 goals on Suzuki's wing 2 years ago?

not once did I mention anything about the trade lol. you're trying to justify the trade with the lack of depth, but those don't equate. the trade makes no sense from a philly stand point. philly doesn't need tatar. esp at that price. philly's gonna keep thier prospects and let them grow with the team.

He is a 65pts player, on a cheap rental contract -> on any metric or comparison, he is worth a first and a B+ to A prospect.

Granted you may not like Tatar, but he is worth way more than a 2nd pick.

My apologies I thought you were debating the validity of the trade. Your right the Flyers don't NEED Tatar but I am sure like every other contending team they wouldn't mind getting him.

yeah I wasn't sure if it would be enough but with Bob and Hubby plus the loss of Dadanov I think Florida will want good roster players back to help them compete right now.

Dw man, I am just really high on Benning (as you can see from my PFP and my quote...)
Also, our defense will probably need some help soon, as Yandle is getting old and we have a lot of depth guys, so we're banking on one of our D prospects to really turn out.

I also like Benning he seems like a very worth while gamble even though he is on the small side lol.
