WSH doesn't have cap issues this year. Kempny just had surgery and is out for eight months. They're under the cap.
Laine had 7 more even strength points than Vrana this year, but Vrana had a better points/60, so if he gets bigger minutes, he could outscore Laine this year or next year on his own. I don't see the point of the trade.
Over the last five years Orlov is 8th in EVP among LHD. Fehervary is a top prospect developing faster than a couple of first round draft picks. The two of them together make a fair trade for Laine.
So you've got two units of "Laine's trade value" here, plus a 1st round pick, and on the other side, you've got just one Laine. Consider revising?

I will say though, a Powerplay of
Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Laine
Oshie-Carlson
would be absolutely insane. Easily best Powerplay in the NHL.
See above. (eta: but what about Backstrom, Wilson, Schultz, McMichael, etc.? Top power plays tend to have two good units, and Backstrom is the key to the Caps' top unit.)

No chance the Jets take 29 year old Orlov back as a main part of the deal.
See above. Cheers.
