Jets decline, need some longterm pieces for a couple guys, that the jets had longterm plans with. I would rather gamble with a cheaper roslovic than tatar but that’s just me.

Yeah, both could sign longer I just figured to replace laine you would have a 50-60pt player in Tatar who is only 30. And the best #2 centre in the league who can also put up 50 pts. Along with a blue chip RD prospect and a 1st rd pick. I doubt the jets will even get close to what they want for Laine. Maybe not. But I think the Laine Sega will be ugly if they don’t deal with it soon. Especially being that most of teams revenue is negative and they won’t have the money along with many other franchises to afford the kind of raise he wants. Time will tell.

I agree with Birtle. There is nothing in that offer, other than the first, that the Jets would need or would want for Laine.

The Oilers also don't have the cap space to take Byron plus for a single player signed at 1.5 Mil

Jets don’t need a top 6 LW/RW or a true #2 centre and Selke nominee. A RD top 4 D projected prospects not played awesome at world juniors. And a 1st. I doubt you get that for him anyway. But like I said we shall see.

Ya it’s not likely the jets want 2 players that play amazingly well on the defensive side and put up more points combined than Laine does. Lol

Jets are kind of a different level than mtl is, they basically have to continue to build, and add team control assets over and over again, and then when it finally comes together, they add rentals and go all in. Losing all the defenseman that they did put there build back to be being 2/3 years out, waiting on the blueline to catch up to the forwards, so adding veteran forwards with the scheifeles/wheelers/Lowry/pearrault, just gets the squad to bubble or early exits, and still waiting on the blueline. So my personal theory is the need on any laine/roslovic moves need to bring in players or picks that fit with morrisey/ehlers/helly/connor category or age group or heinola/samberg/vaselainen type add category. So adding a couple vets that best hockey in the next two years doesn’t quite do it, especially when there’s no guarantee they stick around, with expansion and Winnipeg doesn’t usually longterm anybody without sometime with team, kind of a mutual audition.

The question is more going forward and longterm, 3 years is the question and beyond, more than previous few years

Ya I get that. His post shows 3 years resign for tatar and 4 for Danault. Laine won’t be there longer than 2 years.

True, but bringing in a 2C and a LW along with brook who could play in the next year. Or another RD like juulsen or fluery. Could make another winger expendable to get a top 4 d ready now. (Ehlers) for Dumba or whom ever. I see where you are coming from. I’m excited to see when the market lets go. Seems like a lot of teams have a lot of money to move and players to sign. Something has to happen sooner or later. I’m not sure of the hold up.

Yes but In 3 years, Danault and tatar both on the wrong side of 30 with scheifele and wheeler, and jets looking at a long rebuild if everything doesn’t go right, as far as health or primes. Winnipeg market doesn’t bring ufas, so all trades need a large longterm look, laine deal would be similar to a Kane deal some picks and recent draftpicks, and some team control over extensions

Yup. You are correct for a 27 year old 3C and 30 year old winger that will be retired before Laine has left his prime, it's a pretty easy.no. squinty smile

Laine owes the Jets 3 more years and Winnipeg is far better off keeping Laine for two years and trading him then if need be. They'd still get at least as good a return then as this, since the one proposed here is pretty lousy and will have got to keep Laine for two more years.

Laine for two years is worth more than this entire proposal.

Don't forget you also thought Domi was worth a top 10 first round pick and more and look how that turned out.

A 3c your armchair gm material, very excitatory. Never seen a 3C hit close to 50 points and be a 2 time selke nominee. Keep drinking your cool aid bud.

He finished the season as Montreal's 3C, so a 3C is exactly what he is. He's also only scored 50 points once and was in pace for that a second time this year it of 6 seasons. So, at his age, I wouldn't bet on him hitting 50 again.

Montreal is best off just keeping. Danault as he's not worth anywhere close to what you think he is. Just remember what you thought Domi was worth and what he actually was worth.

Oilers decline not moving JP now that he’s agreed to join the team again, he’s a cheap top 9 winger for the next 2 yrs greatly helping out Edmonton’s cap crunch.
Plus Byron is to big of a gamble can’t stay healthy enough with a condensed schedule I’m sure he’ll even miss more time do to injure
