also, anderson is in a weird spot but i would hesitate to call him overrated. He is a game changed until last season and when he was healthy he was VERY unlucky with a low SH%. dismissing him because he only had 4 points in 26 games is foolish. how many good players go through bad/unlucky streaks?

Huberdeau isn't a top 5 LW? Panarin, Ovi, Marchand... who else? He's been top 12 in scoring the last 2 seasons on Florida teams that didn't make the playoffs...

Disagree with larsson. Judging by most people’s opinions on here about him I think he’s wildly under appreciated.

The thing that doesn't sit with you right is that Backes left St. Louis as a solid scoring winger and became an enforcer in Boston.

His first two seasons were good as a power forward but after that, he couldn't really keep it up.

I think Tkachuk and either Connor Or Laine is better than Huberdeau. sometimes i just see people trading him for the sun moon and stars and I'm blown away. Dont get me wrong, hes still a great LW, but not as good as some FLA fans that i know think he is.

I’ve heard stupid rumours of CBJ looking at him for a 2C option this past year so that’s what I went off.

Murphy - sure
Huberdeau - i disagree here
Anderson - yeah
Granlund - i agree, is overrated, but he still was good at one point with bounceback ability
Larsson - being traded for Hall will do this. most people see him as a 2nd pair defender tho

Underrated players
Hischier - Eh, i think his cap is a 2nd line C. He's overrated due to his draft position.
Larkin - Definitely - but he hasn't done much to warrant a spotlight
Tuevo - 100%
Hertl - I think he is both overrated and underrated at the same time.

As an Oilers fan, have to agree on Larsson. Hasn't done anything in 3 years. Tons of mistakes defensively, nothing to show for it offensively. K. Russell > Larsson and it's not even close.

Hischier and Larkin are really good names on that list.

The issue with Anderson is that he was always better than his point totals. Now the issue is that he's paid *way* above his point totals, so even if everything goes well for him, he'll just be worth his contract basically.

I'll just go at this instead, cause I feel like I disagree with just about your every assessment...

Murphy - I'm okay with that.
Huberdeau - He's not top 5, so kinda wrong, but okay.
Anderson is complicated - but he was never as bad as his point totals either. There's just no justification for paying him that contract.
Granlund wasn't really that good at anything than getting points, but it's still not that bad of a take.
Larsson - spot on, no issue here.

Kapanen - yep, he's bad.
Rakell - What? Leafs fans on here are trying to get him for like a 2nd + Engvall and their 20th best prospect. He's a legit scorer on a terrible team. First line winger for sure - not top end first line, but def. first line quality.
Kase - How? How is a guy who's ability always has been higher than his point totals overrated? This is in perfect contrast to how players are usually rated. His shot impacts have had him as one of the league's most underrated players, and you somehow twist this into the opposite?
Domi - he's kind of bad but not the worst.
DeAngelo - I hate this guy, but he's really good at hockey. Unlike many other point gatherers he actually has the individual impacts to drive scoring.
Georgiev - Why? Again. He's like a league average goalie at a decent age. Is he overrated or are you annoyed someone asked for too much in their acgm trade?

Hischier - This is insanely incorrect. He's underappreciated cause people expect more from a 1st OA pick if anything. His two-way game is scary good for a player his age, but apparently no one can evaluate defensive impacts. NJ has basically nothing, and that nothing consists of a lot of net negatives and Hischier as a huge positive.
Larkin has done about as much as one can in Detroit. Not that dissimilar to Hischier in terms of on-ice impact, although I rate Hischier higher. He's a 1st line C that no one talks about because Detroit is trash.
Tuevo is one of those guys that people talk about on here as one of the most underpaid players in the league somehow. He's good. Even really good. But he's not worth *that* much more than his current deal.
Hertl - Well okay, how does one grapple with this exactly? Sounds like he's accurately rated???
Chychrun is a decent player in his own right, but he's in no way, shape or form ready to be relied upon as a #1D.

Well I presented plenty of substance, but you do you I guess

I didn't really want to spend my entire evening typing out a forum to back something I didn't really care to back, but guess that has to happen anyways:

- Kapanen - we agree here, no need to explain.
- Rakell - I think that is the issue. He's a good player on a bad team, but as to how good is debated. Advanced stats aside, he plays more ideal to a 2nd line role and his previous high potential has flatlined 3 years ago. Much of his remaining value is a result of having a very good cap hit rather than his skill level being through the roof. I'd directly compare him to Zucker with his skill and potential. Not a top liner, but still a top sixer. He's viewed as having bucket loads of potential still despite making minimal to no improvement in the past while. That's not purely a result of the team around him, either.
- Kase (more in the past) - again, the analytics community massively overhyped this guy. Year after year they were still clinging to the belief that this was a star in the making, just waiting to get 30 goals. But time after time he settled as a basic 3rd liner. The general hockey fanbase doesn't overrate him, but the analytics community sure did.
- Domi - Hab on the rumor board - better bet that makes you overrated. He's a middle sixer worth exactly what he was traded for. Both on capfriendly and in general he is made out to be much more. He's a 40-50 point getter who got 70 points once, not a 70 point guy in general.
- DeAngelo - He's good at hockey, but he is also an offensive defenseman with attitude issues. These tend to do good sporadically. Ghost, Burns, Gustafsson to name a few - really strong first impressions then they fell off the map. He might be good, but it is his potential that I think is drastically overrated. This seems like a peak, not a trend of more to come - largely my own subjective opinion though. Lots disagree with me on this guy.
- Georgiev - Stats driven by one hot streak despite being a generic backup. The rangers fanbase inflates his value drastically to be far more than it realistically is. He's a career backup.

Damn Ovi is stuck up? Huh? He's a hilarious personality and seems like a fun guy to be around

Where is Tkachuk on the disliked players?

Call me crazy, but Tkachuk is one of my favourites in the league. Maybe 6 or 7.
