I would hope Chevy smart enough to stay away from Keith's contract especially if he had to give up Roslovic to get it.

Doesn't make sense for the Hawks. We don't need more prospects/players that are bottom 6 forwards or bottom 3 defensive players. If Keith is moved, and I believe he is the only player out of the core that may be moved, it's going to be for picks or prospects that have potential big upside. I just don't see Roslovic or Niku qualifying as this. Roslovic is going on 24 and hasn't shown he's ever going to be more then a bottom 6 role player. Niku, another 24 year old (younger in defensive years vs. a forward), is probably at best a #4 defenseman. Hawks have logjam in both these areas with plenty of options 25 and under.

3 years of Duncan Keith is worth Roslovic and Niku IMO.
I dont see CHI retaining money and taking on Matty P's contract, one or the other i think

Keith is a top 4 defeseman on any team and especially a team like the Jets who need a 2nd liner. He is a beast in his training, and at 37 is barely slowing down and at $4.5M, good luck finding a better 2nd liner that will have the immediate impact Keith will.

Roslovic hasnt had a real chance to show what he can do in a top 6. That's why he wants out. Maurice never gave him a legit shot in the top 6 or at C. He did play a bit but not enough
Same could be said for Niku, but his ceiling isnt where Roslovic's is
Honestly, Roslovic is good and could be a steal for a team trading for him.

Niku and Roslovic are not players that would interest Chicago IMO. I think Roslovic is a bust, meaning, he will never reach his draft ceiling. He's a 3rd line player and nothing more and a average 3rd liner. The guy is going on 25 years old and hasn't shown he can put up 40 points even despite being a 1st round pick. I just think it's pretty easy to find players in the NHL like him and the Hawks have multiple options as such.

Hawks have an absolute logjam of prospects and players in the bottom 4 on D. Niku is not going to jump into a roster spot in Chicago and be battling quite a number of good prospects to earn a spot; De haan, Zadarov, Carlsson, Kalzynuk, Beaudin, Vlasic to name a few.

Point is, maybe the value on paper works but the players are the wrong ones.

Yeah, he might be passable next year, it's the two years after that where the Jets are paying $4.5mil for a bottom pairing guy that concerns me. That Hawks are just better of keeping him as he won't waive for Winnipeg anyways.

Wrong team for Roslovic. Here's why; Toews, Kane, Debrincat, Kubalik, Dach, Strome, Nylander....Roslovic is not better then any of those guys and doesn't have the talent or upside of any of those guys. As such, Roslovic is going to be pushing for a 3rd line roll but Hawks have plenty of options there. Roslovic is just the wrong player; I think he's a 1st round bust frankly and not more then a 3rd liner and role player.

That's inaccurate. He's a top 4 on every team in the NHL, top 3 on a lot of teams. He's not going to fall off like a stone after a year to become a 3rd line player....just doesn't work that way. Keith is an absolute beast in the way he treats his body, diet, etc. NHL commentators mention this on national broadcasts because Keith is still playing top 10 defensive minutes in the league. You don't go from that after the current past season to a year later bottom line minutes.

It would be fair to be slightly concerned about the last year of the deal but for at least 2 years he is a extremely solid top 4 role, or in the Jets case, top 3 role. I would bet he's a top 4 player to finish the 3 years on his contract. More importantly perhaps, it's what he brings in leadership and plenty of hardware he has won in his career....we are talking about a hall of famer, top 25 defenseman in the history of the league who still plays top 10 minutes in the league. I will say, he does need to be paired with a defensive responsible partner not a "offense" D type partner if you are going to get the best out of Keith.

Not true. You can't predict with certainty if a 37 year old player will or will not be effective for 1, 2 or 3 years and at $4.5 mil in a flat cap era for 3 years, is too big a risk to take. Especial giving up a young forward who can slot on as a top 6 on a lot of teams. Sorry, you're best off hanging into him as he is clearly worth more to the hawks than anyone else.
