Description
For extra info
Danault would not be trades unless there is an extension in place for the team he’s being traded to. Think of the Pacioretty deal as an example. So a B+ prospect + 2nd + 20 goal scorer. Habs don’t need more roster players so you can look at it like B+ prospect + 2021 1st rounder.

Habs would rather lose him for free and use him as a “rental” for this years playoff run then get assets not worth 1 season of his play and keeps the Habs at the same level.

ALSO, Danault and Kerfoot trades only happen if Danault isn’t extended by the Habs before preseason.

Kulak trade happens if Romanov impresses in his first 7 games and the Habs decide to keep him for year.

Pacioretty had way more value than Danault lol
Suzuki was an A prospect
Tatar was a capdump

MTL are winning every trades here
Only Kulak might be realistic but a 3rd most likely

Suzuki was not an A prospect on the Knights, he was a B+ at most. Tatar may have been a cap dumb but he was a 20 goal scoring winger who still had value. Pacioretty was not more valuable than what Danault would be if extended. He’s a top 6 centre that is a top 10 selke nominee. Pacioretty requested for be traded which lowered his value.

Leafs need to dump cap and Kerfoot is not worth more than a late second on his own considering he has another year on his deal after this one. The Hawks 3rd will be like a late 2nd and Weals starts for them in their bottom 6.

Kulak is a #4-5 d man with only 1 year left at a really cheap deal. He gets you a second at the deadline so why not now when you get an extra few months with him.

Kravtsov is one of the top prospects in the NHL currently so NYR wouldn't even dream of including him unless a true 2nd line center was involved within age range/good contract. NYR wouldn't even offer a 1st for danault at best you may get a 2nd rounder.

You just don’t know your hockey with that take and your opinion is **** you can like hockey and watch games but don’t come here saying Danault isn’t worth a 1st round pick

Because of ELC bonuses the Rangers need to have about a $4 million surplus in cap space. Thus NYR is up against the cap. Danault is better than Strome, but unlike Danault it's a certain that Strome has great chemistry with Panarin.

It would be better for NYR to resign Strome for one year (maybe 2) rather than trade major assets for a rental player, which is what Danault is. Especially when the following season, Lundqvist, Shattenkirk, and Smith come off the books and a top UFA center could be signed without having to trading anything.

I personally believe Gorton would trade Buchnevich for Danault and move Strome to RW to better increase the Center depth. But it seems Montreal wanted more in return. Considering Buchnevich is a RFA (not UFA) next season and considering how good of a player he projects to be this upcoming year, I'm glad (if?) Montreal turned down Buchnevich for Danault.

I'm glad you understand you would need to pay Ottawa to take Byron. Byron is a decent player, I like the guy, but he doesn't fit as a Senator type of player, and makes a bit too much. The cap hit is mostly irrelevant this season, but not next season, and that 3rd year definitely hurts. Buying him out is not an option, and it would cost a lot more than for Ottawa to acquire a buyout contract.

I don't know who would be a better team to trade him too, off the top of my head, but there must be some team that you could trade him to for less, or even up with the right fit.

Maybe the Florida Panthers, they look like they might need a winger, and have cap space.

He didn’t say that. He said rangers wouldn’t offer. Two very different statements. Rangers spending a 1st on denault is the rangers that spent a 2nd on Ryan clowe, two seconds and a prospect on staal, etc. denault just isn’t the guy they need to push them into contention. He may be worth a first to habs fans, and to other teams where he is the final piece, he just isnt that for the rangers.

in my eyes he isn't worth a 1st to any team but I've seen Coleman and goodrow go for a 1st. But to NYR definitely not and don't be upset when people with logic and sound thinking disagree with you. Wouldnt recommend you keep making these posts if you are so aggressive and rude to other people as this is a forum of discussion.

There’s some people that I disagree with but they knows their hockey, but you’re not one of them with your take ‘’ people with logic and sound thinking disagree with you ‘’. I can understand that you don’t want to trade a 1st for Danault extended, but realistically he is worth way more than a 1st if extended. You can say I don’t want to trade a 1st for Danault ( extended ), but don’t say in my eyes he isn’t worth a 1st. He is worth it, but you rather go for someone else but the price will be double probably
