Cap space can be made without too much difficulty. Sending Rask and Pateryn to the AHL would free up $2m. Then trade (or give) away Greenway, Hartman, Foligno ($800k retained), or Marjo/Bonino (with half retained). Nickel and dime the roster by sending someone like Strum to the AHL (on paper) for non-gamedays until someone goes on LTIR and opens up some space that way.

It can be done but it's still easier said than done, you'd have to find trade partners willing to take on Greenway, Foligno, and Hartman and then fill those roster spots with league minimum contracts (by my math you'd need 6 league min players from your proposal). Moving cap this year is difficult with how tight money is from COVID

Actually you don't. MN is sitting at a 22 man roster with $2.7m in cap space.
-Sending Rask and Pateryn to the AHL would be a 20 man roster with $4.85m in space; and really have no effect on the team considering they are in the pressbox/IR for most teams any of us make.
-Adding a $6m contract would put them $1.15m over the cap with a 21 man roster. That's how I came up with my $2m figure for cap needed.
-Shedding $2m means a 21 man roster with one of Rossi, Belpedio, or Addison making the team and pushing the 6D or 12 FWD to the pressbox.

It's tight but doable for MN. They can always play the cap games of sending Strum (waivers exempt) up and down to Iowa on off days to open up more breathing room.
