What I imagine the Sharks roster will look like if there were no more trades and they added a 3rd RD without looking to the Cuda to fill that spot. I picked Rutta based on the previous cap hit, but anyone who can play alongside Ferraro would do. Steady but cheap, this player would get maybe 10min/night behind Burns and Karlsson anyway.
I always make sure there are 3 scratches, so that cap gets accounted for in case of injuries. Those players may not be on the roster, but if called up to fill a spot, the cap room would need to be available.
I thought Micheal Stone might even be a decent choice as the 3rd RD, so if Rutta isn’t realistic, you could plug him in for less of a hit. Whoever it is will get maybe 10min per game behind Burns and Karlsson anyway.
EDIT: Some may be confused: this isn’t my “cup contending roster of improbable trades” roster, this is just what will likely be the roster in reality.
Correct, but you're not gonna go far is the G doesn't bounce back and if your bottom 6 performs as advertised (very poorly)
Agreed I think this years a bit of a write off. I think the sharks move either Burns or Jones somehow next year and add some serious pieces up front to get much better.

And you had better hope that Laf has no trouble and Kakkos year was just a speedbump
Laffy's game is one of the most complete ones I've seen in my life, and I watch the World Juniors every damn year so I know quite a few young players haha
As for Kakko, seriously what did everyone expect? 40 goals? Quinn constantly played him in the bottom six with no major offensive opportunities and he was still on pace for roughly 15 goals and in the 30 pts range. I actually expected him to score maybe 18 goals and 35 pts but really his 19-20 season is of no concern for him. He looked way more implicated in the playoffs, and Fast's departure creates a possible opening for Kakko
