It's fine. If Klef plays 4 games or less this year I believe, then he is not exposed. This gets us to our exposure requirements on D, protecting Nurse, Bear and Jones. And then, if Klef is out the next season (at that point likely retired), Russell is fine as a 6/7 D at 1.25 mil, playing 14 mins a night. Doubt he gets taken by the Kraken, but you never know. If he stays, he is a good bottom pair defender and will be paid like one. Right now, he is paid as a 2nd pairing Dman, and forced again and again to fill top 4 patches. None of that is Russell's fault. By next season, there will be zero chance he is ever forced to play above his weight again, barring additional catastrophic injuries (as with any team).
