It sounds all well and good, but its not like they'res going to be enough money next year either. Only Coburn, Pacquette and Coleman are coming off which only frees up 4.5-5mil, which isn't enough to resign the three, and that's with Stamkos on LTIR. Theyre also losing a lot of their depth and are not deep in prospects. I'm not saying their window is closed, but I just cant see your proposal.
They've won it, but chances of a repeat are very low, whereas for some of them they can step out of the Hedman/Point/etc... shadows into another team that is a viable contender. I think it very unlikely that even 2 of the 3 take massive underpayments on a 1 year deal.
I think it more likely that they lose one of those big RFAs and one of Johnson/Gourde/etc...
With a flat cap they'll be hard pressed to get quality back in trade, even for Stamkos, as teams are capping out with each passing day. And if theres a flat cap next year? TB has just 38 players under contract and only 3 mil in cap space, which shows a lot about their depth.
Say PHI offers three high-mid level prospects (say 2 of Isaac Ratcliffe, Wade Allison, Wyatt Wylie, Sandstrom, O'Brien) and a good pick (2nd? 3rd?) for Johnson and Cernak? That frees up 7.75mil, adds depth to system and allows the longer term signings of Cirelli and Sergachev. There's also the real threat that any or all three of those guys offer sheeted at 4mil or less, only cost a 2nd.
Johnson and RFA Cernak for PHI 3rd, LW Isaac Ratcliffe, RD Wyatt Wylie, and G Sandstrom, doesn't help you with Stamkos though, but allows re-signing of sergachev and cirelli easily with a bargain UFA here or there
