Ryan Suter at 5M is one of the best values in the league. That's not close.

Suter has always been one of my favorite Dmen outside Boston, dudes still a beast. But teams are learning the hard way that a lot of 35+ guys start to fall of a cliff as they get older. League is a whole lot younger and faster than it used to be. If he had 3 years left I may agree with you but I really cant see a team going after him

No no, no no no. Suter at $5M for one year is a bargain. Suter at $5M for 5 years at an age where he could fall off the cliff at any moment with a contract that can’t really be bought out effectively? Guerin might not like the idea of losing out on a guy that can log 24 minutes, but getting rid of a good chunk of that portion for nothing would be a huge win. Gets rid of a huge risk.
