True, but Andersson wasn’t signed in a flat cap. If he sees our cap space he should take 2 or less for a one or two year contract. So it’s hard to compare the contracts.

Or it could be that one guy was the best defensive player for the team with the fewest goals against this season. Same was true the year before for a cup finalist. The other was a minus player on a poor defensive team.

Could be homerism, but i kinda think it has more to do with one guy having a very defined role on a very good team, and the other having an ill defined role on a meh team.

I feel like you don't really know who Ethan Bear is. He was a rookie this season as a 22 year old and took over the first pair role in the first ~month of the season. Yes Edmonton's defensive game overall is weak but that doesn't make Bear bad at defense, in fact he is quite good at it. Of the 2 players Bear also had the better EV Corsi For and GAR this season.

You are definitely just choosing to ignore what Bear has done this season, he is certainly on a similar level to Carlo
