we just gave a 3rd for Schmidt. not giving MTL a 3rd for....who?
Brett Kulak, was a top 4 for MTL in playoffs, their best D some nights. He is a good player, but not consistently he is a #4 or #5 D, a lot of habs fans were upset when they signed Edmundson because they thought Kulak earned a top 4 role.
You guys got Schmidt cheap because Vegas needed to clear cap and you didn't send any cap back. Kulak makes $4.2M less than Schmidt does and he would be your number 5, could play top 4 in case of injuries.

Koekkoek is the best LHD on your team
Why is he in the AHL?
He isn't playing over Chiarot or Edmundson. Mete would be claimed on waivers, he is only 22 makes $735k and is MTL's leader in +/- over the past three seasons while receiving more Dzone starts than normal. So that leaves it between him and Romanov, I'd like to think Romanov impresses in camp, management is really high on him.
I see Koekkoek as a cheaper replacement for Kulak, there is enough cap space to have him on the roster, it depends what happens in camp.
And if he is the best LHD, then why did Chicago not qualify him? Just let a good asset go for nothing I guess.

what's the purpose of the Nalimov for Lindgren trade? Nalimov isn't even on your Laval roster. did you just need to toss Lindgren aside for some reason?
Exactly, habs have 6 goalies under contract right now, Price is NHL starter, Allen is backup, Primeau AHL starter, Demchenko just signed and McNiven just re-signed. Lindgren is the odd man out.
Chicago is kinda going with the unproven guys next year so I figured Lindgren would be a good fit for them, he has had some decent stretches in the NHL but wasn't a reliable back up goalie.
Nalimov has an indefinite signing date so MTL would at least get a players rights that they could sign at any time if they choose rather than lose Lindgren for nothing.
