Kulak was good for about 6 minutes. I’m not saying the signing was good or bad. Here’s the thing, MB is clearly trying to give Claude as many weapons as he can while allowing Claude to run the team how he wants. If Romanov plays that’s a physical d on every single line with the first two having 2. They have build the back end around physicality with Weber and petry supplying the offence. Then upfront we got bigger and nastier with toffoli and anderson(Anderson supplying the nasty) we also have good depth every where including potentially 2 30 goals scorers and a couple of 20
First, Kulak has been solid for two seasons now. He and Petry are one of the best defensive pairs in the NHL, and clearly the Habs' best. His dominant performance was only the icing on the cake.
Second, nasty/physical is good, but being good at hockey is even better. Kulak may not be a bruiser, but he's no slouch on the physical side, and he can actually be effective in top-4 minutes (unlike Edmundson).

Sabres have plenty of bottom 6 forwards. They don’t need Byrons high cap hit.
Yes, they have plenty of garbage bottom 6 forwards. Take, for example, Cody Eakin as your third-line center. It's great having a solid top-6, but it means nothing without depth. I think the Sabres would make that trade.

I like the Edmundson signing was a mistake. Let NJ pay us to get rid of our mistake.
Apparently Edmundson was a hot commodity on the UFA market , so I don't think it would be that hard to move him. Especially for a 5th from a team with a traditional GM, plenty of cap space, and no defensive depth whatsoever. In all fairness though, what I would do is go back in time one month and simply not sign him. Problem solved.
