I don’t know why you would trade Pettersson for that. He’s a top 4 d-man, 24, years old, just signed him to a decently priced long-term deal. I think you’d have to get more for Pettersson.

And ya, we don’t need to trade a D-man? For what? Dumoulin/Letang, Pettersson/Marino, Matheson/Ceci and Ruthwedel and Rikkola as our 21st and 22nd players(and Lafferty as our 23rd and 13th Foward). And Troutman or Czuzman coming up if any injuries(Both are career AHL players or 7-8th D-man). And P.O-Joseph and Maniscalco being our top 2 defensive prospects ready to come up. I don’t see why we need to trade one. Everyone thought we needed to sign one..lol..Hence the Ceci signing.

And no, the team is not better. You significantly lessened our defensive pairings for not even 3rd line Center help. Gaudette isn’t a huge upgrade over Jankowski and both have just as much upside. Janko is only 26, a former 1st round draft pick, coming off his 1st 3 seasons and 1st team.

Not ours and on this he is paying Gaudette 3 million per year. So overpaid. And I’m still not trading a top 4 D for a bottom 6 player regardless. If we are trading a young top 4 D on a great contract, we best be getting a top 6 RW back or a 1st round pick at least.

i agree 3millon is way to much for him but i really dont think pettersson has the vaule you are thinking of i see him fetching more of a 2nd round pick maybe at best picks 30-31 of the first round

You might not, but fans on here like to act that all pens players are cap dumps that the pens would be lucky to get 7th round picks for. A young top 4 d on a long term good-great contract can fetch a 1st easily. And if it doesn’t, then the pens should just keep theirs.
