Is that the slowest bottom 6 in the league outside of Robertson?

probably gonna have thornton and spezza alternate in the lineup, if it's a compact schedule. Doubt they'll both be in at the same time. Also, Spezza isn't too slow, he QB'd the powerplay last year and he can still manage

Lol people say Leafs need veteran leadership and more toughness, Dubas gets that, and people stay mad.

At the end of the day the team did need both of those things, and got both of those things. Also there is enough young competition on this team that will probably get in (Barabanov, Vesey, etc. so I'm not too concerned with that

Shame on Toronto, he's bottom 6 at best and should've retired with San Jose

Adding Joe Thornton and Jimmy Vesey isn't getting you to the 2nd Round while dropping Kapanen and Johnsson

dropping Kapanen and Johnsson to add to the D while adding big bodies and veteran leadership, coupled with the development of our young stars might though

also this heat is really coming from a Sabres fan?

The Leafs had Tavares, Rielly, Andersen, Spezza, Barrie, Muzzin, Clifford and their young guys have been in the league for at least four years now.. how much more veteran experience do you want?? In that list of players there are two stanley cups, 4 players that have been or could be a C or an A on a team, there is leadership abound on last years roster...

lol barrie was hardly "leadership". Joe is literally a legend desperate to win a cup. At 700k you can't possibly be against this signing given what he brings to the table

If Barrie is all you picked out of that comment then the problem is extremely clear. Joe is a fine signing at 700K and a lot of teams would take that but it adds to exactly what the Leafs already have in the bottom 6.

I'm not saying it will take us over the top but the bottom 6 wasn't working before. It just wasn't meshing well. They are trying to add some different elements this year and take a different approach than having all small skill guys, grabbing bigger guys and vets that can still do some damage, which I can appreciate

Never once said we were competing for the cup lol, just think changing the bottom 6, arguably making it worse and bringing over forwards from the very team ur criticizing (Simmonds, Vesey) doesn't exactly seem to be a recipe for greater success
