Bozak is based on the Stastny deal. Bozak did better than Stastny this past year and he's cheaper so yes. You would technically have to.

Don’t try explaining everything. People who follow hockey understand Vegas didn’t get anything for Stastny is because they were in a position of having to dump cap at all costs.

Detroit could flip Bozak at the TDL for something better than a 4th..

I don’t know how the Blues will get cap compliant. Steen and Tarasenko will be on LTIR in January but I’m pretty sure they can’t deduct that until after the season starts, meaning at day 1 of the season their contracts count towards the cap.

Bozak makes sense as the odd man out but who knows???

It's funny how you don't understand Stastny is making 6.5M and actually plays worse than Bozak who makes 5M and you expect to make extra assets off of that? Your analogy is stupid.

Stastny is already on the backend of his career, I think Winnipeg paid pretty much what a 34 year old Middle 6 guy is worth. Especially at a 6.5M price tag. Blues can get a 4th round pick for Bozak. He's 1.5M cheaper, and plays better. So it's not like 4th round is anything bad. If Paul Stastny went in a package with a pick to Winnipeg then sure it would be the same for Bozak, but in fact it didn't so therefore. Bozak is probably worth around a 4th-5th round pick. You can't pick and choose who is worth it and who isn't.

Statsny makes 5.5M and Bozak makes 4.25M as cap hit <> “making”. I think Winnipeg traded for Statsny to fill that vacant center spot while also being a familiar face. The difference though is that Winnipeg is trying to compete while Yzerman has come out multiple times saying he is looking on taking cap dumps for futures so this go against that. You can’t just apply one teams trade to another if they’re trying to accomplish different things (compete vs rebuild). So I think what that Wings poster is saying is that Detroit would only take Bozak as a dump otherwise we’d be fine running one of Fabbri, Vladdy, or Flip as a 2C and using that leverage to gain futures.

Then Blues would probably look else where. Looking at Detroit is pointless, because that would be fleecing the Blues. When we don't have cap space issues anyway.

That’s fine, I was just pointing out why Detroit fans wouldn’t like the OP’s trade. We’ve seen Schmidt go for a third and I’d consider him substantially worth more than Bozak. I also think it would be difficult to move cap space currently but that isn’t your problem giving Pietrangelo signed in Vegas.

you still haven't explained why the Wings, a team in a complete rebuild, are going to PAY a team to take on a cap dump....

Never said it would have to be the Wings tho. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Wings or Sabres or someone else. Just because you are in a certain situation doesn’t mean you gonna get cap dumps for someone who has positive value.

lol you literally have this as a trade to the Wings, and then I asked why would the Wings pay to take Bozak. You proceeded to explain it was because the Jets paid x for Stastny... .makes no sense.

Why even make an ACGM if you're not going to do a realistic one? I don't get it.

No I’m not I’m perfectly fine. I understand now everyone who wants to trade with Detroit no matter if they are worth something or not have to give a bunch of assets up and positive valued players to make the trade work for Detroit. Seem about right? Cuz that’s how you both explained it.

No that is exactly how you explained it. Bozak is positive value but you want him to be a cap dump. So why not you know McDavid Crosby Tarasenko ROR Dunn like that's just the analogy here on everything. Can't pick one to be a cap dump and the other not to be. Stastny and Bozak are both positive value. You can't pick and choose who's a cap dump and who's not. You have no understanding of MARKET VALUE. And also no understanding of You still pay for the price they are worth. Market Value was set at a 4th round pick. So indeed i'm not lost.
