As much as I love Mo, I'm not sure that they accept Fox 1 for 1, mostly due to age and contract status (ie. Rielly could walk in 2 years), and the fact that Fox is crazy good for a 22 year old, so you can only imagine what he might be at Mo's age

Reilly might be better than Fox at this moment but he is 5m player with 2 seasons of control before UFA, and Fox is 5 seasons from UFA and two of them on ELC. You are out of your mind if you think Reilly fetches Fox in the current NHL.

I mean to be fair Fox has one year under his belt. I might like to see him repeat his success for a 2nd year before I trade my proven #1D for him, but I understand what you're saying and agree in a sense

Rielly is the leafs best defenceman and he's not going anywhere unless it's a huge overpay. You are out of your mind if you think Fox fetches Rielly Well not out of you mind, but my point is Fox alone does not get Rielly.

Ya sure, but it doesn't make sense to swap Rielly and Fox for the leafs. An add would have to be there for the leafs to pull the trigger.

I think he does if we are about a third of the way through the season next year and fox looks as good as he did last year, and still likely would get Rielly this offseason

Sure, in an absolute vacuum, Reilly is probably the better player for next season (by no means a guarantee though) but with the other factors, Fox is significantly move valuable to the Rangers at where they are as a roster looking to compete in the next 2-5 years, vs Toronto looking at next season.

Sure it makes sense. A top pair ELC RHD at 22 years old, I can't think of a much better return for him to be quite honest

Any player can be traded for the right price. I think absolutely there are scenarios where a Rielly trade makes sense. Do I want Mo gone? No, of course not. Are any of the trades that I think would make sense realistic? Probably not. But there are deals that would absolutely make sense moving Rielly for, its not like he's the best defenceman in the league. A damn good one, but a Rielly for [insert defenceman that is better, or has better combined present and future value (ie. a guy like Fox who is a top pairing now and will be an elite 2 way D] might make sense. There's always a bigger fish
