Except no more moves probably means they will go with a 22 man roster or less also might mean they will penny pinch all they can out of mihkeyev and dermott

Hmm, idk, that's a pretty vanilla statement. 'We're more excited about our back end than we've ever been", could mean they've got trades lined up, after arbitration, or are working on stuff etc.

I'd be happy with this blueline regardless, there's a lot more depth and given the crunched schedule, we'll very likely rotate our bottom 6 and bottom D pair every other night

The weakest link is Holl, really, and he was pretty damn good with Muzzin. Maybe splitting shutdown time with Brodie/Bogosian he won't be left so exposed. Last year he was sharing that role with Ceci LOL

I kind of want to see the Leafs try a Muzzin - Bogosian pairing. If this works out, could be scary against a lot of teams

It's certainly better than it was. However, I don't think the Leafs are going to make it very far until the forwards buy in to playing defense as well.

Teams that do well realize that there are 18 skaters on the team that play defense, not only 6.

And? Seems like a fine plan considering they have depth everywhere now. It only took Dubas 2 off seasons to right the ship Lou tried to sink with terrible contracts.

Bogosian is 100% the bottom of the depth chart. Holl is just better and I'd be extremely surprised if he didn't play most of the games. Injuries will happen though and Bogosian will be counted on at times. All in all I love the depth now.

Definitely he shouldn't be our new top 4 guy, but in certain instances, on the PK or for some defensive zone shifts etc., Bogo is at least an option, compared to a guy like Ceci or Barrie who were tire fires

No it won't and it won't happen. I think Brodie, Muzzin is far more likely and Lehtonen and Rielly will be the other top pair. Dermott and Holl will be the bottom pair and Bogosian will split time depending on who we play. I could see some 7 D games when we need the extra muscle and penalty killing.

Imo, as much as I want Weegar, another dman of that calibre means Leafs likely have to protect 4 + 4, which means a very solid fwd is going to Seattle.

I'm fine with this team. 100s of different combo choices at fwd and defence.

I'm still holding out hope Dermott takes a step this season and bumps Holl down to 3rd pair. That's the Leafs best chance to solidify that top 4.

I could see the Leafs rolling 7 dman the odd time, would help cut the top 3 dmen min down the odd time.

Also Sandin is the wildcard, if he forces his way onto the team, one of Dermott/Holl will have to go, but that would be an in-season trade.

It would be terrible. Bogosian needs a puck mover and sheltered minutes. Unless Dermott is the 7th defenceman, which would he disappointing, Bogosian will be a 3rd pair PK guy, nothing more. Lehtonen is going to force himself into the top 4 and I think he'd be great with either Rielly or Muzzin.

You can also toss them some picks to take somebody as well. That's gonna be an option, like giving them a 3rd rounder or something to take engvall or kerfoot etc. Not a huge loss, plus we'd have a guy like Weegar for all of next season and (if they take the offer) a few seasons following

Lehtonen is perhaps the biggest wild card. Some people have him scratched others have him in the top 2 lmao. I'll be very curious to see how he pans out. Really hoping he's not just another Barrie

That means we couldn't resign Hyman until after exp draft, because if he's exposed, Leafs likely have to pay a bigger price for them to pass.

A healthy fully adjusted Kerfoot could be a 50 pt player that PKs. If he has a decent year, I would think it would be a bit painful to lose him for nothing.

Muzzin said he wasn't comfortable on Leafs at all in 18/19. Only felt like himself beginning of last season.

Kerfoot had two different coaches, a broken jaw, 3 different fwd positions, and a rotating cast if linemates last year. I don't think we've seen his ceiling.

i mean last season we were supposed to go with 21 than all the injuries happened lul. We had the full team for 1 game lul that was it. 22 man really isnt an issue as Carolina ran that for 90% of the season and only when Williams came back did they have 23

If there's anybody who I'd trust to not sign anywhere else, it would be hyman haha. He's said he wants to play his whole career here, and if you told him you weren't signing him until after the expansion draft, I'm sure he wouldn't mind

Also yeah, Kerfoot would hurt to lose, but at the same time, I'd take a potential top 2 RD if it meant losing Kerfoot for nothing. Easier to acquire a 3C than a guy like Weegar.

Or maybe Dubas is gonna galaxy brain the hell out of this, hope Weegar takes an arb reward that walks him in a year, let Seattle take Holl in the draft then just sign Weegar like he did with Brodie

I feel like Dubas will be standing pat until the trade deadline. If he feels another defensemen needs to be added, he will do it
