Burns selected by SEA.

Also, about the line combos, center depth is what gets teams cups. Hertl and Nieto came on the Sharks together and have a good rapport, and Blichfeld/Sasha could complement that line well on the right side. Who knows, maybe even Leivo if he's willing to take a league min 1yr deal to feast on that line with Hertl and then get paid.

NJD got Murray for a 5th. If you want to move cap, gotta be more creative than this.

Make it a 7th or even Sharks attaching a 5th (not gonna happen). The point is that Simek can get moved out, and it won't be difficult.

I know the market's difficult, but Simek has more value than Murray since 1) the market's no longer saturated with LH-physical dmen that can play 2nd/3rd pairing defensively well like how it was for goaltenders and 2) Simek is under contract whereas Murray wasn't.

100% ... Simek is a 28 year old with 4 years at 2.250 mil ... why on earth would anyone want him, particularly a rebuilding/ youth movement team like Sens & Devs. It defies logic

Why do young teams ever bring in 28year old guys or older under contract? To not end up like DET last year. Not every team wants to or even should fully tank. There's value. Brings stability, teaches the young guys, sets a standard. Very logical.

Where can he be moved out to? No one has space, once you take into account resigning RFAs and filling roster spots.

I just dont see a home.

There are so many better options for the few teams with space. Why spend on this?

Simek is a fine player...but if NJD accepted every decent D-man for pick offer they got, they would have zero picks....and twelve pairings of d-men.

Ok, which team would choose this over all the other options out there for cap space? This is a bad deal now and ages poorly. Seattle is best bet next year.

But who else is out there? No more free agents, so it'll have to be a trade.

I could see either a young team in NJD (who only have 2 LD-men on their roster with both on expiring deals) or BUF (who only have McCabe and a very young 20yr-old Rasmus Dahlin on the LH-side and trying to be competitive) or BOS (only have Grzelcyk and John Moore [God bless his soul...] on their LH-side) or some other teams who are thin there and could use a Simek.

There's Ghost, Simek, and Kulak there to be traded. I'd rather not have Ghost bc of poorer play and higher cap hit, so the latter team can easily find homes.

If you use NJ for example, the have several LD prospects who can take that third spot ... Ty Smith is widely expected to be a lock, but he could be lose out to Bahl or others (unlikely) ... other rebuild teams would prefer similar or a vet on shorter term ... of free agents, Vatanen or Ceci can play offhand. Vatanen has extensive experience doing so. There are also several RFA sagas to play out from both left and right side. But maybe you're right? I just dont see it. Enjoy the off-season

NJD have Murray, Butcher and Smith at LD. And they are likely to add one more d-man...either via trade, or short-term UFA deal.

Try the Bruins too...they need a LD and have a little cap now that Krug is gone.
