No, I don't this trade will happen either. I think Sergachev will sign an offer sheet, and Johnson will be dumped, and cost way more to dump than we thought he would, a second at least, maybe more. Mark my words. Something has to give, But ya, the value in that trade doesn't line up.

Ok, just wondering why Bolts would not try and get assets

99% of time, I say that about offer-sheets. They are mostly fantasy.

This time is different because TB is in more of NTC hell than Cap hell. They cannot easily move pieces around.

We shall see. I would love Stevie to put an OS in for Serg.

am I the only one to see that this still leaves Tampa one player shy of a full roster?

That is not uncommon. Teams can manage the cap by going with 1 less healthy scratch in short-term. I think if they made these moves (or similar moves), they would be ok.

Ok, professor.

Tell me what you'd do here.

Just scrap it. Bruins aren’t interested in taking on more cap at the wing position. I’m guessing Sweeney likes kase.

Don’t ask the bruins to retain. Not happening in any situation.

Want to send cap to boston? He better play D and shoot left.

David Backes called and wants to know where his checks are being sent.

Bruins have no more David backes-esque contracts left. Moore’s is a little rough, but the number is low enough so that it makes more sense to burry than retain.

Other than that all the bruins contracts are good.

Sounds like they are looking for top-6 forward if they trade Debrusk for Weegar.

The buyout window is closed and TB doesn't have anyone (that I've seen) filing for arbitration to open up that buyout window.

Not that it makes much difference in your cap if you sent them to the AHL. It might even save you a bit if one or both of Coborn or Paquette was claimed off waivers.

You have to hunt to find who runs that site. No byline means I’m not trusting that it’s worth anything

He is not Bob McKenzie, but he has broken some stories. Other insiders trust him. He is on NHL satellite radio, NHL TV network all the time.

Its not like it would be crazy to see B's trade Debruska for d-man, then acquire another forward.

That would have made a bunch of sense a week ago when there were good d men and good forwards out there.

There’s an equation out there that needs to be factored in.

The d man acquired by moving debrusk has to represent a situation that is more appealing by a certain level than allowing the three left shot d that Sweeney likes to wet their feet in the NHL.

I don’t think Weegar gets you there. If schmidt doesn’t, weegar definitely doesn’t. I think the bruins are rolling with what they have on the left side, or they have a BIG fish targeted that we don’t know about (sergachev or lindholm).

Four teams that I'd think are selling a LD (not counting Kris Russell, Smith, Ghost, etc).

1. TB: Sergachev...but Coburn more likely I think.
2. PIT: Pettersson. Too many LD, other holes to plug.
3. CGY: Hanifin.
4. DAL: Been a little quiet out of Dallas...they were supposed to move a D-man to make room for Harley and get cap space to sign RFAs Hintz/Gurianov (and Heiskanen next year). I just have no idea who they would move.

I guess my point is that unless the guy the bruins would be acquiring is a legitimate bonafide top pairing defensemen, I personally think its a bad acquisition inherently.
