Description
Is Dubas done? Probably Not! With Lehtonen absolutely tearing it up right now in the KHL and with the added speculation that "Jumbo" Joe Thornton may be making his way over to the Leafs ( " This makes me a happy boy indeed with Thornton being one of my favourite players growing up and seeing him in a Leafs jersey would make the nine year old me scream like a little girl") I just don't believe that Lehtonen is the "Final" solution to our right side problems but weirdly enough we actually could propose an offer sheet for Mackenzie Weegar a contract and see if Florida can match it with no picks required but it does help out Florida in the long run especially if its like the Aho offer sheet from last year where Montreal made such a bad offer that Carolina were easily able to match it. i feel like if Dubas wanted to give say $2,800,000/3 years and see if Florida would like to match that is ok because Dubas isn't overpaying for a player and Weegar is definitely not worth anymore than $3 million dollars because Weegar has not played a full NHL season so his point production is skewed and cannot be properly graphed so it's taking a huge risk but a guy who has played with a top d man talent in Ekblad should be good right? so how good would a Weegar be alongside a Muzzin? or even a Rielly? Time will tell? but Dubas ain't done not by a long shot!
Tell me what you think will happen down in the replies? Would love to hear your guys/ and gals? opinions?

and why is that? I understand Jumbo can still play 15 mins per night and has been staying in shape in Switzerland like a true boss! but his offensive capabilities are almost completely gone but the defensive side of his game is still very viable on a team like the Leafs? I don't suppose a Sharks fan like yourself would like to keep another older player on your squad when you guys wanna compete right? I totally understand Marleau wanting to break the all-time games played record as a Shark ( would be an absolute honor for a Sharks player to have that honor) but having two 41-year-old players taking away roster spots from younger, hungrier talent, doesnt make alot of sense for a team trying to get younger, while the Leafs need more experienced guys on this team to show the younglings the way.

Robertson probably plays 3LW. Leafs also probably keep Engvall, he's a useful 4th liner at a reasonable price

He doesn't touch the third line. Way too slow for it. He'll be a 4th liner and PP specialist and that's it

With the signings the Leafs have made this off-season, good chance Robertson doesn't crack the lineup unless it's expanded rosters. He's no where close to beating anyone out in the top 6. Third line should be filled be Vesey, Kerfoot, Simmonds, Anderson, or Barabanov. & there's no use in wasting his development on the 4th line. Liner goes back to junior if there's a season, or possibly AHL but it seems clear that he's not making the lineup this season

I wouldn’t say clear. But there is certainly a contingency in place if he does not.

I agree but that's why im unsure whether or not they are going to pack a backup roster of say 6-8 guys that don't count against the cap? but Engvall does have his uses, kinda like a Swiss Army Knife but i can see him getting trade value to ensure the signing of Mikhayev and Dermott idk this upcoming season will be an odd one

Canucks can't afford Holl we're in the same cap situation as the Leafs. We also have a number of prospects who can fill the bottom pair. We could use a 5-6 guy but only at league min.

The player is a fit potentially. But we have to sign Gaudette and Virtanen and have 2 mil to do that. Virtanen will likely get close to 3 so we have to move out money.

Most likely they don't, but they do need decent Wingers and maybe a solid 4th line Centre If they are thinking about competing this year

No. We have way too many bottom 6 forwards right now.

Jumbo wants to play forever and will eventually play 4C. If this is the year, then so be it.

The organization thinks they got kids coming up to fill those rolls. Plus, you want 2 picks for someone you're trying to get rid of to clear room? C'mon.

Lets be real, the Sharks aren't deep enough to contend this year. MAYBE compete for a playoff spot.

Well Thornton is 40+ and has a choice to play for the Leafs. If they put him on the 4th line, he's not signing with them. Period.

Joe's only a season removed from a 50+ point campaign, while playing with Marcus Sorensen and a young Kevin Labanc, so no. His offensive capabilities are not completely gone. Have you even watched Thornton play the last couple years? I'm not saying the Sharks are getting him back, but he's not a 4th liner. Dubas isn't plugging him into the 4th line, he'll probably play 3C and Kerfoot will move to LW or 2nd line.
