I think Toffoli got underpaid and not Gallagher who got overpaid. I thought Toffoli would get a bit more than Pageau so around 5.5-5.75. I’m surprised he took this contract

100% understand this, has a few more intangibles. But 2.75m more? I’m not sure, I think Toffoli is underpaid by 1m and gally overpaid by 1m. Not that bad of a deal though.

You really need to watch 70-80 games of MTL to understand who valuable Gallagher is to this team. A lot of fans outside MTL doesn’t understand why EVERY single Habs fans overvalued Gallagher that much. It’s understandable, but look 30-50 games and you’ll understand. I think I never saw a Habs fans undervaluing Gallagher xD

6 years is a bit long but 6.5 is good, especially for us. He’s a fan/team favourite. He also sparks our offence.

Gally has 100% earned every penny of his new deal and will continue to do that for many years. He's their heart and soul, which has lots of value

Not an overpay. You could make a case that the last year will be tough but that's a problem for tomorrow. For now, they have their heart and soul, their pain in the ass to play against and for the team and Habs fans it's all that should matter

The Habs will very soon have one of the worst cap situations in the league and no chance of being anything but a bubble team. Likely not that once Webber and Price decline. I honestly wish it wasn't so but it is. Way too many secondary players earning way too much money. I like Gallagher but he's getting paid for what he was and there is no way he'll live up to this. MB has screwed this franchise.

It's a very bad deal, he will be a 40 point player making 6.5 million. What happens when Suzuki and KK need deals? Your long term cap is littered with bad deals.

Don't know if you realize but he was still on pace for 30 goals and more this year and you call him a 40 pts player?? God help you if you believe that.

The team is a bubble team that will watch its young guys Suzuki and KK start taking steps while the over paid old guys decline and you won't be able to move them. You are going to be a worse version of the Islanders.

I think at 28, he's not going to trend better so he could score a couple more 30 goal seasons but he's never been more than a 50 point guy and I think it's silly to expect him to get better as he rolls into his 30's. As much as I like him, hes overpaid.

We have older players. It’s a win now team. We might turn into Detroit in several years but it’s fine. We are a legit team now.
