Description
I've seen many trade offers for gally that clearly shows that you don't understand the habs' needs and surplus.

1 - we don't have cap space anymore. In fact, we are over the cap right now - but not by much, and I won't be too hard to get under.

2- we are starting to be set at LHD, we have tons of LHD prospect coming in. Its almost a surplus now.

3- we don't have any decent rhd prospect coming up exept Juulsen, Fleury and Brook. But these players are no garanties. That would be our biggest need.

4- Our RW is now set, we might need LW if Tatar leaves.

5- we have many picks and a lot of prospect... some picks could be moved.

So now, if you Gally trade doesn't check those box... it's probably not good.

I understand some of you might say that he is only a 50+ (30 goals) player, but that's not the whole story with gally. He is a fan and team favourite for a reason. Even if he doesn't score, he the player playing his heart out on the ice. The players going to the dirty area. He is the spark on the ice, and a leader that preach by example. That's why it takes an overpayment to convince MB to trade him. He is the face of this franchise. The team is now build for Gally's playing philosophy: grit.

And I get that some AGM are trolling the hell out of some habs fan for doing the same thing to their favourite players (I am guilty of the same thing). But this post is for agm that like Gally and want to actually make a possible trade.

Anyway, I love this community, even the trolls ,

Cheers

The "problem" MB has done though is made Gallagher expendable by signing/acquiring Toffoli and Anderson. He's still a solid piece to the puzzle don't get me wrong. But, it makes moving him/moving on from him that much easier.

What a ton of people are forgetting is Gally can still be kept. Next year $2 M of Alzner buy out. Plus $1.5 M in Jake Allen reduction in salary. That's $3.5 M plus the $3.75 M of Gally's expiring contract and you are already at $7.25 M, which should be more than enough to resign Gally. Then you have pieces that can be moved for Byron or Kulak. To add to either Tuna or Danault's contract. They will be fine.

I was thinking the same as you. The money you get from kulak and/or Byron, for me, goes to Danault contract.

After, Seattle Will likely pick Edmundson/Chiarot/Allen and it Will give you the money for the others UFA and RFA.

Of the 3 millions$ that Seattle pick, you give 1 To Tatar and and try to find a bridge for KK.

After you can pay some depth or prospect to replace Armia and Lehkonen

Exactly. Things will be tight but work themselves out. As soon as I heard Gally talks had broken off, I said out loud, here come fifty or more capfriendly trade Gally posts!

Yup. I used to come on here daily but left for two years for those exact reasons. I coached for 23 years in the Q & O and also junior A. Then I helped players negotiate contracts and gave them financial advice. I had 56 players, with 3 at NHL level. I retired to Florida but still love the game. This is a good forum and still fun though.
