I was told by others on this site that Lindholm is better than Nylander. Brooks is a nobody. And Holl is being replaced by Weegar.

I think Toronto wins this trade. they get a better, more hard-working player, for cheaper and opens up cap space to sign another stud defenseman. How is that NOT a win????

You have to wait 12 months to trade a player once you matched their offer sheet to prevent exactly this..... lmao

"More hard-working player" based on what? The eye test? What other people say? Nylander is a cost-controlled 30 scoring winger who's still under 25. Every other team in the league loves that guy, Leafs fans want to trade him for garbage, I hate it. Trading Nylander is a terrible move, just to sign Mackenzie Weegar to an offersheet that gets matched? Brutal.

https://public.tableau.com/shared/9CRB46TMM?:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link&:embed=y Nylander vs. Lindholm. You don't trade away very good young players for other players who are not as good.

Yeah, just watching him and per his scouting report: "Has excellent versatility up front and plenty of skill. Is not afraid of sticking his nose in the dirty areas of the ice and works hard. Owns great two-way ability. Competes very well in all three zones." Maybe I'm wrong, but taking some offense away to round out our defense would be nice.

Listening to what others on this site say is useless. Ask 10 Leaf fans who much Nylander is worth, 3 will say he's worth Tkachuk, 3 will say he's worth more than Lindholm and 4 will say he's worth a 3rd round pick. Why? Because fans are almost 70% idiots. Now ask 10 non Leaf fans, 1 will say Nylander is worth more than Lindholm, 3 will say they are close to even but because he makes less than Nylander Lindholm has more value and 6 will say Nylander is just a 60 point winger so he's worth a late 1st and a B level prospect at most. What does all this tell us? Listening to anyone on here is like listening to a conspiracy theorist talk about politics. It's nonsensical and a complete waste of time.

Nylander was one of the best players in the league at creating offensive zone turnovers. In the entire league. You just can't do that if you are afraid to get your nose dirty. Nylander along the board's is so much fun to watch as well. He uses his legs to get away from guys and wins battles a hell of a lot more than he loses them. This whole "Nylander is crap" debate is so over done. He's a top player on a lot of teams and gets nothing but disrespect

Those are all VERY good points! Very true. I guess the only time people post anything on this site is when they disagree with you and want to bash your head in because of it LOL. Rarely does anyone post something positive or an agreement.

Yeah good points. I suppose I will give him another very close look this season. I just got annoyed during the play-in round and felt that most of our stars got pushed around a lot.

I think he's a great player, but just want a bit more effort from him. I think he could take it up a notch if he did. Sometimes he'll fall to the ice and literally sit there for a good 5 seconds before getting back up. It's stuff like that that bug me haah.

Your still looking to see a guy check a guy off the puck (that's your 3rd and 4th line players) Nylander is actually one of the hardest guys to get off the puck, he steals pucks, and creates the most turnovers in the ozone in the league. I like Lindholm but he's not an upgrade on Nylander , I like Weegar but he's not going to cost that much to aquire or on a contract - Panthers have him available for a reason

I haven't missed many leaf games and I have never seen that from Nylander. I don't know who you are thinking of but it's not him.

You may be right about Weegar, but they are going to arbitration with him. As for Nylander, there are so many half-hearted plays I've seen, but perhaps that is because he is such a smooth skater that it doesn't seem like he's putting in effort. I'm not sure, I just haven't liked his work ethic, but maybe I'm biased and looking too hard.
