Key to that deal being Point just came 3 points away from Malkin's modern playoff points record and a Conn Smythe, with Cernak at all time high value

KK is at all time low value with some doubting him

Fills positional needs for both teams also

Just barely beat Kuzy by 1 point in 1 less game. Idk If anyone is beating that Malkin score tbh. Dude was a freak lol

Tampa would let Cirelli walk for free before trading Point.

People on this site are so, so quick to be condescending a$$holes for no reason when they know 10% of the situation, it's pathetic & unpleasant

This is so ironic and insulting because I've literally been advocating for him since 16 when I noticed he put up really good numbers in the whl playoffs and then looked terrific for that Canada u17 team I'm 100% honest here I'm even a bit obsessed with him

Also omg -I'M NOT NECESSARILY SAYING IT'S A GOOD DEAL OBVIOUSLY- all AGMs are different: some what they 'should' do, some what they 'could' do, etc.

I'm saying it's a cogent solution to their cap issues

He also plays beside two elite scorers consistently and isn't a dominant possession player (while fox is) so selling high on him for this package is compelling

EDIT

There are like 15 other elements to that deal aside from how good BP is like Fox/KK both on ELCs for 21-22 too for a cap stuck team under stagnant cap

Totally lol just bonkers I still remember that playoffs because of him and I guess also the insane Fleury save on Lidstrom which probably broke my brain forever

There is no 2nd buyout unless an RFA goes to arbitration or team opts for arbitration.

The Lightning will not have a second buyout period this year. None of their players elected arb and the team didnt take any to arb. The deadline for player elected arb was the 10th and team elected 11th, so they missed their chance this year. Going to have find a taker in trade market. Not likely without massive incentive.

yes okay. Brayden Point is absolutely untouchable, Tampa would rather play with 2 lines than trade Point.
