Toews is fantastic but the Wild shouldn't touch him.

Kakko would be a tough give for Kane, but damn panarin-zibanejad-kane would be absolutely nuts

Hawks decline the kane and toews deals. Kane deal isn't really close.

They're not going full rebuild and if they did they could get a better return for both players

Depends how much they're retaining, toews contract is over by a few million and Kane while worth every penny would be hard to fit for a lot of teams

Why is Dumba seen so highly around here he was outscored by Brodin this year and scoring is the crux of his game as he doesn't drive play overly well Confused

If they were to do a full rebuild they could easily retain on both if they need to. Or take a cap dump back and get more assets for doing so

Oh for sure, but the 2nd overall pick from a year ago and a first is nothing to sneeze at for kane.

If one is too soured by KK's rookie season maybe, but Seguin was just as mediocre in that situation and PK at 32 with only 3 years left at 10M isn't too great

So it's that for probably 10 years of KK scoring 60 points and doing lots of other things quite well, legitimately one of the best Finnish prospects ever

I can't imagine passing up an elite asset just because he was underwhelming as a 19 year old in the NHL especially with Chicago needing a rebuild right now

instead of retaining on Toews your want Rask instead? It's the same $4m but a year less, and maybe he play enough to have some value in trade? Just for the sake of discussion. I mean Toews at half price for Dumba is a really bad trade for CHI.

I like kakko a lot. It's a great start but it's gonna cost more than kakko and what would end up being a late first rounder. Kane has shown no signs of slowing down and is arguably the best RW in the league (yes pasta but pasta has way better linemates). The hawks could retain some salary if the 10 mil cap hit is so bad.

But I rather keep toews and kane even if it means the hawks being bad until they retire. They won us 3 cups. They literally saved the team. They should be lifelong hawks.

Didn't rask say he'd retire if he was traded? Plus boston would have to add, goalies notoriously have low trade value.

Wild's Rask, not BOS Rask.

CHI needs to give fans a reason to watch, Kane and Toews do that. Rebuild with them on the team will gives fans a reason to watch and find new players that will become their new favorites for when Kane and Toews move on/retire. The Hawks are closer to the White Sox than the Cubs or Bears for fans showing up or turning it on the tv when the team isn't good.

Really it's more of $4m in dead cap for 3 years with $4m retained to Towes in this trade, or $4m in a warm body dead cap for 2 years with Rask. It's not great or anything, just looking at the cap ramifications is all.

I still think it would be crazy to retain $4m on Toews for 3 years, and CHI should not do this trade at all.
